Chapter 1 第一章
Nick Lay in bed , covered in red spots . 
杰克在床上躺着，全身张满了红疹子。
He Looked at his body and counted the spots along his arms , across his stomach , and on his legs . 他看着自己的身体，数了一下他手臂上，肚子上和腿上的红疹。
He soon lost count.他很快就数不清了。
"Oh dear , '' he sighed . ''There are more than a hundred spots. ''
“哎呀，天呀，”他叹气到，“我身上有好几百个水痘疹子。”
Nick had chicken pox , and he felt terrible .
尼克得了水痘，他感觉很差劲。
Nick went to the doctor . 
尼克去看了医生，
Nick was sure the spots would go away quickly , but the doctor had bad news. 
他很确定水痘会很快消失的，但是，医生可不这么认为。
''I'm sorry , Nick ,'' he said . ''You didn't have chicken pox when you were young , so you're going to be sick for a few weeks .
“我很抱歉，尼克，在你小时候你没有出水痘，所以你这回会病个几周。”
 You need Lots of rest And remember , don't scratch !''
“你需要多多休息，然后记住，不要挠它。”
Nick's spots were very itchy , and it was hard not to scratch them. 
尼克的疹子非常的痒痒，而且很难不去抓挠它们。
Nick tried not to think about it . 
尼克试着不去过于关注它们，
He played on his computer read books and even did lots of homework. 
他玩电脑游戏，读书甚至做了很多的作业来分散他的注意力。
But his spots were still itchy. 
但是他的疹子依然很痒。
''I've got a present for you ,'' said Meg. 
“我有个礼物给你，”梅格说
She gave Nick a huge box，It was a telescope !
她给了杰克一个大盒子，里面有一个望眼镜。
 ''Now you can watch me and Jack play outside . ”
“现在你可以看着我和杰克在外面玩儿了，”
Just look into this end , and you'll be with us ! ''
“你看着这一端，然后你就和我们在一起了。”
Nick watched his sister and cousin play . 
尼克看着他的姐姐和表哥在玩游戏。
'' I wish I could play too ,'' he thought. 
“我真希望我也能参与。”他想。
''I hate having chicken pox ! ''
“我真是恨死了这些水痘了。”




Chapter 2 第二章
The next day , Meg and Jack were at school .
第二天，梅格和杰克去了学校。
 Nick sat on his bed , feeling itchy. 
尼克坐在床上，感觉浑身都很痒。
He gazed through his telescope and spotted some cats lying across a path. 
他透过他的望远镜看到了一些猫咪躺在小路上
Three dogs walked around the corner wagged their tails and chased the cats. 
三只小狗摇着尾巴转过转角，然后去追那些猫咪。
The cats ran up a tree , and the dogs raced past .
猫咪爬上了树，然后小狗跑过了那棵树。
Nick Laughed , and he didn't think about scratching. 
尼克乐了，他忽略掉了身上痒意。
Nick also noticed Lots of people walking along his street . 
尼克也注意到了，有很多人在街上徘徊。
He saw the same people the following day too . 他连续几天看到相同的人物
He watched them every day and soon gave them nicknames.他天天看着他们，然后很快给他们都各自起了昵称。
Mr Blue Trousers came home at 9 o'clock in the morning .蓝裤子先生每天早上九点才回到家。
Then Mrs Happy played with her dog at 12 o'clock . 
然后快乐夫人在12点带她的狗狗出来玩。
She always Looked at Nick's telescope and waved. 
她总是看相尼克和他的望眼镜，然后向他挥手。
Finally , Ms Bed Head put her baby into her car and drove away in the afternoon. 
最后，赖床女士在下午把她的宝宝放进车里，并带着她驶出了家门。
When Meg got home from school , Nick told her all about the neighbours .
当梅格从学校回到家时，尼克告诉她了关于他们邻居们的事情。
" It's amazing , ' she said . There's a whole world on our street that we never knew about !''
“这太神奇了，”她说，“在我们根本不知道在这条街上有着另一个完整的世界”




Chapter 3 第三章
One day , Meg came home and immediately heard Nick shouting. 
一天 ，梅格回到家后马上听到杰克大喊。
' Meg ' he yelled . ''You're back ! I've been waiting for you. ''
“梅格” 他喊到，“你回来啦？我一直在等你。”
" What is it ? ' asked Meg , running into Nick's room. 
“发生什么了？”梅格问道，跑进杰克的房间。
" Something has happened to Mrs Happy , ''Nick said . ''I haven't seen her all day .''
“快乐夫人一定是发生了什么事情，”尼克说，“我今天一整天都没见到她。”
 Nick Looked through his telescope ,but he still couldn't see the friendly woman. 
尼克望向了他的望眼镜，但是他依然没有看见那个友好的老妇人。
''Perhaps you missed her ?'' said Meg. 
“你会不会错过她了？”梅格说
''No , ' said Nick , staring through his telescope
“不会的，”尼克说，望向他的望远镜，
" She always plays with her dog at 12 o'clock
Something is wrong .
“她总是在12点的时候带着她的小狗出来，一定是发生什么事情了。”
 She Lives in the yellow house at the end of the road . Can you visit her ?''
“她住在道路尽头的那所黄房子里面，你能去拜访她一下吗？”
''Yes , ''said Meg , ''but you must go to bed and rest . You're still very sick. ''
“好的，”梅格说，“但是你必须在床上躺着休息，你病得很重。”
Nick agreed , and Meg walked along the road to the yellow house . 
尼克同意了，然后梅格走向了黄色的房子。
She knocked on the door , but Mrs Happy wasn't there. 
她敲了敲门，但是快乐夫人并没在家。
Meg went back to Nick's room .
梅格回到尼克的房间
'' Maybe she's on holiday ,'' said Meg . Nick nodded , but he still felt worried. 
“也许她出去度假了，”梅格说，尼克点了点头，但是她还是感觉到很担心。
The next morning , Nick Looked for Mrs Happy again .
第二天早上，尼克继续寻找快乐夫人。
 He spotted her brown dog running along the road . 他看到了她的狗，跑过了马路
A car drove past the dog and nearly hit it .
一辆车开过差点撞倒它。
''Help ! ''yelled Nick .
“帮帮忙！”尼克喊到。
 He ran downstairs , but he was very slow . 
他跑下楼，但是动作缓慢。
''Mum ! Dad ! Please catch that dog . It needs our help. ''
“妈妈！爸爸！拜托你们抓住那条狗，它需要帮助！”
Mum and Dad immediately rushed outside , but the dog ran away. 
妈妈和爸爸马上冲出房子，但是小狗已经跑远了。
Mum and Dad went back home
爸爸妈妈回到屋子里
" We're worried about you ,'' said Mum .
“我们很担心你，”妈妈说
''You need more rest ,'' said Dad. 
“你需要好好休息，”爸爸说
" Perhaps we should take your telescope away .''“也许我们应该把你的望远镜拿走？”
''No ! ' said Nick . ' I'll rest , I promise .''
“不要！”尼克说，“我会休息，我保证。”
Nick went upstairs and rested . 
尼克回到楼上休息。
But that evening , he looked through his telescope again , and he noticed something strange. 
但是在傍晚时，他又透过他的望远镜看外面，这次他发现了一些奇怪的事情。
