Should I feel happy?

是该感到高兴吗？

Speaking about it, it was a little ridiculous.

说起来有些莫名其妙

An environment like this, instead made me a little unsettled,

这样的环境，反而让我有点慌

Eg. He felt unsettled in new surroundings. 

他在新的环境里感到不安。

v. 使(某人)不安或担忧；使动摇

 unsettled-unsettled-unsettling, unsettles

Eg. Nothing can unsettle his belief.

什么也动摇不了他的信仰。
我一吃海鲜胃就不舒服。

Eg. Seafood unsettles my stomach.

settle [ˈsetl]  

vt.解决;安排;使定居;使沉淀;定居;下沉

n.高背长靠椅

Eg. One day I'll want to settle down and have a family 

总有一天，我会想安定下来，成个家。

I came clearly prepared for hardships,

我明明已经做好吃苦的准备来的

yet I see everyone playing around, playing games, talking about games,

但看到所有人都在玩，玩游戏、聊游戏

or just sitting together and chatting, the dorm was filled with snacks, biscuits.

要么就是坐在一起聊天，宿舍里都是零食、饼干

When I saw all these, I was a little afraid.

看到这些的时候，我有点怕

Didn’t they say we had to stretch our legs?

不是说要压腿吗？

Didn't they say we had to practise non-stop everyday?

不是说每天都要不停地练舞吗？

Were my efforts made to prepare for hardship futile?

吃苦的准备难道白做了？

> futile [ˈfju:taɪl]

adj.无效的，无用的;没有出息的

Eg. Please stop! You are making a futile effort.

停下吧！你这样做是徒劳无功的。

Eg. It is always futile to try to hold back the progress of history.

要想阻止历史潮流是徒劳的。

Eg. It's futile trying to reason with him. 

想和他讲道理是没用的。

If we don't work hard now, what about the future?

如果现在不努力，未来怎么办？

My thoughts then were very simple, we can choose not to practise now, 

我当时的想法很简单，现在可以不练习

but if there was a need for me to dance in the future,

但是以后需要我跳舞的时候

and I danced poorly, what should I do then? 

我跳得很差劲，那时候该怎么办？

> poorly [ˈpɔ:li]

adv.穷困地;寒酸地;差劲地;看不起地

Eg. She's been poorly off since her husband died. 

她丈夫死后她一直是贫困的。

Eg. We thought poorly of the value of this cup. 

我们低估了杯子的价值。

adj.身体不舒服的;健康欠佳的

Eg. My daughter's a bit poorly today, so she didn't go to school.

我女儿今天有点不舒服，所以她没去上学。

poor [pɔ:r]  

adj.贫穷的，贫乏的;令人怜悯的，可怜的;匮乏的;低劣的

Eg. He had a poor sense of direction and soon got lost. 

他方向感很差，一会儿就迷路了。

n. the poor贫困者，穷人

Therefore when I saw other people dancing, I really wanted to dance as well,

所以那时我看到别人跳舞的时候，就特别想跳

otherwise I felt that my time was wasted.

不然我觉得我的时间是空的

I was originally able to feel the attraction of that relaxing happiness,

我本能地感到那些轻松和快乐带着诱惑

it was very dangerous, as if it was happiness I would’ve stolen from the future.

很危险，好像是偷窃了以后的快乐

I thought of my mother, of that agreement,

我会想起妈妈，想起那份协议

and developed a sense of nervousness and fear.

然后产生一种紧张和害怕

What was the hard work for?

努力是因为什么？

It was due to fear, the fear of not knowing how to face the future, 

是因为害怕，害怕不知道怎么面对未来

> due to 由于;因为;欠下债[账]，应给予;应归于

Eg. His success was largely due to hard work. 

他能成功主要是由于他工作努力。

Eg. All the honours should be due to the people. 

所有荣誉都应归于人民。

Eg. The wage due to him will be paid tomorrow. 

他应得的工资明天付给他。

近义词：because of, thanks to, owing to, as a result of

and therefore I had to make further preparations.

所以要多做准备
