At the time I was suddenly a little dazed, pretty helpless,

当时我一下子就有点懵了，挺手足无措的

and didn't know what the next arrangement was going to be. 

不知道接下去到底是怎么个安排

But very quickly I was told to go to the organizing committee's hotel,

不过很快就被通知去了组委会的酒店

and carried out the final physical quality selections in the room.

在房间里做了最后的身体素质筛选

I remember back then, the other fellows and I lined up side by side against the wall,

记得当时我和其他入选的家伙们挨个靠墙边站好

and a specialized staff member brought out a ruler to measure our heights, arm and leg lengths, upper and lower body proportions etc,

Then as I stood against the wall waiting for my turn,

so I accepted everything that was happening before my eyes in an almost mechanical manner.

就有点机械地接受着眼前发生的一切

Because in this process, there wasn't a single event that was within my control,

因为在这过程之中，没有一件事是自己可以控制的

so I had no choice, because I completely had no awareness of It. 

所以没有选择，因为根本意识不到

It is just the faint smell of plaster on the wall that I can still almost smell now.

只有当时的墙壁上有股淡淡的墙灰的气味，好像到现在还可以闻到
