08 数词的进阶用法

一、序数词前冠词的使用

1、指明了先后顺序或排列规律时，序数词前用定冠词 This is the second time that I have been in London 这是我第二次来伦敦。

2、表示“又一、再一”，不强调顺序时，序数词前用不定冠词 Why do you want to buy a fifth one 为什么还想在买一个呢？在这里，a fifth不表示第五个哈，而是强调再买一个，至于是第几个并不影响意思的表达

3、序数词前有形容词性物主代词、名词所有格或其他修饰语时不用任何冠词 My first five years of childhood was spent with my grandparents 我五岁前是和我祖父母一起度过。这里的first之前有了形容词性物主代词my，所以它之前不用冠词，也加不了冠词啦

4、序数词与名词构成复合形容词时，冠词由被修饰词而定This MPV caris a second-hand这辆商务车是二手的。其实当序数词构成了形容词之后，我们就应该是使用形容词的使用逻辑来理解它啦

5、序数词还可作副词，此时不用任何冠词 First I am short of money，second I haven’t enough 首先我缺钱，其次我没有足够的时间。

6、某些固定搭配中序数词前不用冠词 first of all首先  at first起初  at first sight乍一看  from first to last自始至终

二、分数词：由基数词和序数词构成。

（一）分数的表达

1、分子以基数表示，分母以序数词表示  one third （三分之一）

2、分子大于1时，分母必须加上s  three-fifths （五分之三）

3、分数中的分母为2时，要用half表示  one-half （二分之一）

4、分母为4时，除了用fourth外也可以用quarter one-fourth/one-quartet（四分之一）

Quarter这个词比较好用，我单独介绍一下，它有四等份之一; 15分钟，一刻钟; 三个月时间; 季度; 等意思，所以a quarter 也表示四分之一的意思，它还可以 three quarters表示四分之三，后边通常加of 比如a quarter of 四分之一的什么什么

5、带有整数的分数，整数部分要用基数词，并用and和分数部分连接  eight and a half （八又二分之一）

(二）分数的用法

1、作主语 Over three-fifths of such projects have failed to meet expectations 这类计划中超过五分之三未能达到预期目标。

2、作宾语或介词宾语  He spent a quarter of his salary on rent each month 他每月要花四分之一的收入在房租上面，再举一个例子 They account forone-seventh of the population 他们占人口的七分之一

3、作定语 The cost is only one -third the market price 成本只是市场价的三分之一。

4、作状语 The output will be one fifth higher than last year 产量将比去年高出五分之一。

5、作表语 Six is one fifth of three hundred      6是300的五十分之一。

6、分数作主语时，谓语动词形式应于of后的名词保持一致  Two-fifths of the books hereare worth reading.  这里有五分之二的书值得看，书本可数，因此谓语动词  Two-thirds of the crop was damaged 三分之二的庄稼被毁坏，crop是不可数名词，所以谓语动词使用的是单数形式was
