雨生百谷

The grain rain is not maturity, but it leads to the birth of tiny fruit.

谷雨不是成熟，只是结出一些小小的果实

Us and this world collide, facing the unknown, facing the unexpected.

我们和这个世界相撞，面对未知，面对突如其来

I started looking for a piano teacher.

开始找钢琴老师

At first I found two piano teachers,

前后找过两个钢琴老师

but both piano teachers refused to continue teaching me for the same reason.

但两个钢琴老师都因为同一个原因不愿意再教我了

At that time the teacher was teaching a class, everyone started from basics: so do mi so. 

那时候老师上课，所有人都从基本功开始：so do mi so 

Practising left-right hand coordination, practising finger movements, practising simple songs. 

练习左右手搭配，练习指法，练习简单曲子

But I, as a person, am more stubborn.

但我这个人比较扯

I found practising this way to be too dry.

这样练习在我看来太枯燥了

So my practice did not follow the standard methods at all,

所以我的练习完全不是按照标准套路走的

I went along based on feeling - the scores I could read were all the scores that I’d wanted to read.

我都靠着感觉来——我识的谱都是我要看的谱子

For instance if the teacher gave me the notes that read so do mi so, 

比如说老师给的谱是so do mi so 

then I may just play according to so mi do so, 

那我可能就会按照so mi do so来弹

because I thought it sounded better.

因为觉得这个更好听

And the notes on the left hand and the right hand were different,

而且我的左手谱和右手谱是不一样的

the high notes and the low notes were different.

高音和低音是不一样的

I would often add a little ''garnish" of my own, on top of the original scores.

我经常会在原来的乐谱编排上，另加一些自己的“花”

Usually not playing according to the scores,

一般不按照谱子弹

or as long as I remembered the right hand part,

或者只要把右手的给记住了

after I'd learnt it I would start accompanying with the left hand on my own,

弹会了以后左手的部分就自己配

the accompaniment would be identical to the teacher's,

配一套跟老师教的一模一样

Eg. My opinion is identical with/to yours.

but with a few additional fancy chords.

但多出几个和弦的花样

Eg. Realizing that his retirement was close, he looked for some additional income. 

意识到自己快要退休了，他想要挣些外快。
