The sudden sense of self

突然的自己

I started trying to write songs myself.

开始尝试自己去写歌

Slowly I started making a few small compositions,

慢慢开始自己搞一些小创作

I was especially excited while writing my first song.

写第一首歌的时候特别兴奋

Writing songs in the middle of the night instead of sleeping, writing songs in classes,

半夜不睡觉写，在课堂上写

whether I had inspiration or not, I wanted to write,

有灵感没灵感都想写

Eg. India's myths and songs are the inspiration for her books.

印度的神话与歌曲是她那些书的灵感来源。

Eg. He is a witty man, and an inspiration to all of us.

他机智风趣，激励着我们所有人。

Eg. He has an inspiration: he will give her a song for her birthday.

突然想到一个好主意，他要送一首歌作为她的生日礼物。

I slowly understood that I really do love music.

慢慢体会到我是真的爱音乐

At that time I really was parched and starving,

那时候是真的饥渴啊

adj.焦干的，晒焦的；干渴的，极渴的

Eg. Sorry, my lips are a little parched.

不好意思，我嘴巴有点干。

Eg. A sweet rain falls on the parched land. 

甘雨落在焦干的大地上。

vt.& vi.（使）焦干，（使）干透，（使）口渴

Eg. "Let's parch corn! Stir up the fire!" 

咱们爆玉米花吧，把炉火通旺。

> starve [stɑ:rv]  

vi.挨饿;饥饿;受饿;极度匮乏

vt.饿死;使挨饿

Eg. She’s starving herself to try to lose weight.

她试图通过节食来减肥。

Eg. We have to eat, or we will starve to death. 

我们不得不吃点东西，否则我们就饿死了。

Eg. I am starving for a sight of the sea.

我非常渴望看见大海。

everyday I wanted to listen more, watch more, learn more.

每天都想要去多听、多看、多学

Listening to other people's songs, listening to songs I liked,

去听别人的歌，听喜欢的歌

watching other people play the piano, looking at other people's compositions,

去看别人弹的钢琴，去看别人作的曲

watching movies other people filmed, look at other people's handsomeness.

去看别人拍的电影，看别人长得帅

When you really do something, you will realize exactly how much you are lacking.

你真正去做，就会知道自己有多不足

When you start to understand something, and see the truly capable people,

当你开始去了解的时候，看到真正厉害的人

adj.能干的;有才能的;有才华的;能胜任的

Eg. She's a very capable speaker.

她能说会道。

Eg. Susan is capable of hard work. 

苏珊能胜任艰苦的工作。

Eg. She was perfectly capable of taking care of herself.

她完全能照顾自己。

only then will you realize what the real world is like.

你才知道真正的世界是什么样子的

Your confidence then drops straight from 120 to 100, 80, 60, 40, 20, to 10, 

你的自信感就从120一下掉到100，80，60，40，20，掉到10

and in the end you would have lost all confidence.

最后就没有自信了

I had nothing. I actually knew nothing at all. 

什么都没有，我根本就什么都不懂

To be honest, the me before I was 13-14 years old was a complete idiot,

说实在的，十三四岁之前的我，简直就是一个白痴

> idiot [ˈɪdiət]  

n.白痴;傻瓜，笨蛋

Eg. You idiot, you know what I mean. 

你这个傻瓜，你知道我的意思。

Eg. I apologize for my rudeness. I am an idiot! 

我太粗鲁了，我道歉，我真是个笨蛋。

Eg. I knew I'd been an idiot to stay there.

我知道我呆在这里很蠢。

and to think that I actually thought I was really amazing.

还觉得自己很厉害

The first thing I realized was: I have to learn!
