Spring Equinox(4)

At the time of the competition I was 13, I was the youngest among the competitors. During the competition, whether it was the elder brother's or sister’s who took part in the competition with me, or the staff members of the programme, they all treated me as the youngest brother. They taught me how to choose songs, guided me in singing, helped me choreograph my dance, told me where to stand on stage, and what to do on stage. At that time I thought that this group of people all had a glow to them. Afterwards when I became more mature, I realized that it was a radiance that sprang from their love of music.

Every time I went to the backstage of rehearsals, all the elder brother's or sister’s had already reached; when I felt that I had more or less finished preparing and wanted to leave, they were still diligently practising. At first I was puzzled: “Isn't it just about memorizing the lyrics and singing and dancing, is it really necessary to practise for so long?" Then I silently stood at the side, watching them practise singing, changing their choreographies, again and again adjusting the chorus and the instrumental accompaniment.

At that time the atmosphere in the rehearsal room and backstage was always so happy. Sometimes when others were practising, while we were waiting for arrangements, a group of people would sit down on the spot outside the venue. The elder brother holding the guitar would play a familiar tune, and the group of people would sing along happily.

Slowly, I began to experience a kind of burning passionate aura from them. This kind of aura first began to spread to me through their burning gazes while singing, gaining warmth in the palms of my hands, and then a kind of desire arose in my heart from this heat, with a feeling that something was about to burst forth from my chest. Ah, I think this should be called a kindling!

Today’s key points:

Spring Equinox(4)

At the time of the competition I was 13, I was the youngest among the competitors.

During the competition, whether it was the elder brother's or sister’s who took part in the competition with me,

or the staff members of the programme,

they all treated me as the youngest brother.

They taught me how to choose songs, guided me in singing,

helped me choreograph my dance, told me where to stand on stage, and what to do on stage.

At that time I thought that this group of people all had a glow to them.

Afterwards when I became more mature,

> mature [məˈtʃʊr]

adj.

I realized that it was a radiance that sprang from their love of music.

Every time I went to the backstage of rehearsals,

all the elder brother's or sister’s had already reached;

when I felt that I had more or less finished preparing and wanted to leave,

they were still diligently practising.

> diligently [ˈdɪlədʒəntlɪ]

adv.

At first I was puzzled:

“Isn't it just about memorizing the lyrics and singing and dancing, is it really necessary to practise for so long?"

Then I silently stood at the side, watching them practise singing, changing their choreographies,

again and again adjusting the chorus and the instrumental accompaniment.

At that time the atmosphere in the rehearsal room and backstage was always so happy.

Sometimes when others were practising, while we were waiting for arrangements,

a group of people would sit down on the spot outside the venue.

The elder brother holding the guitar would play a familiar tune,

and the group of people would sing along happily.

Slowly, I began to experience a kind of burning passionate aura from them.

> passionate [ˈpæʃənɪt]

adj.

Eg. Love that matures through hardships is the most passionate love.

Eg. He is very passionate about the project.

This kind of aura first began to spread to me through their burning gazes while singing,

gaining warmth in the palms of my hands,

and then a kind of desire arose in my heart from this heat,

with a feeling that something was about to burst forth from my chest.
