Awakening of Insects(3)

It's funny, when it was time to learn I was listless and dull, but at the thought of being able to slack off, my whole body was invigorated, as though all my brain cells had begun seething with excitement. I even began investigating, when I pressed down on the keyboard, a portion in the middle would sink in, so I used my hand to pound at this place with all my strength, thinking that “If the keyboard was jammed I wouldn't be able to play anymore”. But after pounding at it for half a day it didn't get destroyed, neither did it jam up. Seeing a penknife on a table, without thinking too much, I picked it up and scratched the keyboard severely from the middle, “This will surely damage it!"

When my mother came in and saw it. she was utterly mad. She even skipped the scolding, instead she rushed straight at me and grabbed me by the collar, lifted me from the piano's side and gave me a good beating. After that she dragged me to the door, opened the door and threw me out, and with a "bang” she shut the door heavily.

When I got thrown out I was still barefoot, I remember at that time it should have been dusk. I sat at the doorway in shock for a long time before regaining my senses. The orange glow of the setting sun slowly illuminated the corridor, casting rays on our home's windows before being reflected back. Even till now I can recall the scene at that time completely, everything was orange.

Today’s key points:

Awakening of Insects(3)

It's funny, when it was time to learn I was listless and dull,

> listless [ˈlɪstlɪs]

adj.

Eg. He makes a listless mistake in answer the question.

Eg. One who takes exercise everyday is always full of vigour and will never be listless.

but at the thought of being able to slack off, my whole body was invigorated,

> invigorated [ɪnˈvɪɡəˌret]

adj.

Eg. She seemed invigorated, full of life and energy.

Eg. If I die today, every drop of my blood will invigorate the na‘tion.

as though all my brain cells had begun seething with excitement.

I even began investigating, when I pressed down on the keyboard,

a portion in the middle would sink in,

> portion [ˈpɔ:rʃn]

vt.

Eg. This is your portion.

Eg. We should give a portion of each day to recreation.

so I used my hand to pound at this place with all my strength,

thinking that “If the keyboard was jammed I wouldn't be able to play anymore”.

> jammed [dʒæmd]

adj.

jam [dʒæm]

Eg. Hundreds of people jammed the footway to watch it.

Eg. Every city have more or less the traffic jam.

Eg. I will help you out if you was in a jam.

Eg. The boy licked the jam off his lips .

But after pounding at it for half a day it didn't get destroyed, neither did it jam up.

Seeing a penknife on a table, without thinking too much,

I picked it up and scratched the keyboard severely from the middle,

“This will surely damage it!"

When my mother came in and saw it. she was utterly mad.

> utterly [ˈʌtəli]

Eg. Everything about the country seemed utterly different from what I'd experienced before...

Eg. I remember the first time I went onstage. I freaked out utterly.

She even skipped the scolding,

instead she rushed straight at me and grabbed me by the collar,

lifted me from the piano's side and gave me a good beating.

After that she dragged me to the door, opened the door and threw me out,

and with a "bang” she shut the door heavily.

When I got thrown out I was still barefoot,

I remember at that time it should have been dusk.

I sat at the doorway in shock for a long time before regaining my senses.

The orange glow of the setting sun slowly illuminated the corridor,

casting rays on our home's windows before being reflected back.
