1.take you forever to do sth（S312）

take sb forever to do sth 等到黄花菜都凉了，等到花都谢了

要花多长时间才能找到钥匙啊。It must take you forever to find your keys.

我住在郊区，上班路上要花几个小时。It takes me forever to get to work. 

表达要等很久还可以用take ages

有时候是要等很久才有消息的 Sometimes it can take ages before you hear anything.

 2.pick up （S313）

 pick up 好转，变好

我在想可能会柳暗花明又一村。I was thinking your day could still pick up.

香港的情况肯定会好转的The situation in HK is finally to pick up.

放风筝的时候爸爸说要等到风大的时候再放We'll just have to wait, until the wind picks up a bit.

3.paint a picture （S312）

paint a picture 描述

他说的真是活灵活现啊。He paints quite a picture, doesn't he?  

你能描述一下日本的生活吗？Can you paint a picture of life in Japan for us? 

这本书给我们描绘了一个美好生活的样子。This book paints a rosy picture of how life is.  

有些公司善于分析自己的弱点，会提前将未来出现的问题描绘出来，The report painted a bleak picture of the management’s failures.

4.picture （S316,S318）

picture 想象，可替换imagine. 

你跟我想象的完全不一样啊。You're not how I pictured you at all. 

真没法想象他能做饭，这等到黄花菜凉了都吃不上啊。 I can’t picture him cooking. It would take forever to have supper.

5.rush （S318）

rush into sth 操之过急 rush着急

不要操之过急Don't rush into anything.

三思啊，不要急着再次跳入婚姻的坟墓啊。Hold your horses. Don't rush into marrige again.

这位医生非常有耐心。She doesn't rush you.
