节后综合征


Post-vacation blues


Definition: a type of negative mood that persons returning home or to a normal routine from a long trip (usually a vacation) may experience. 长假结束回到家或回到日常工作的人们产生的负面情绪。


又作Post-holiday blues,或者简称为vacation blues及holiday blues。表达长假时,vacation一词更多为美国和加拿大所用,holiday则更多为英国所用。


Post常作为前缀,指“xxx之后的”,例如90后——post-90s generation,或者后现代主义的——post-modern,等等。


Blues必须是复数形式,表达“忧郁的情绪”,有另一个常见的习语表达,the blues,同样指“抑郁,忧郁”。(关于蓝色和抑郁的典故,请阅读→为什么“蓝色是忧郁的”?


Example: 


Tom: Morning John! How is your vacation?
John: It was awesome! I had a great time on the islands, and I couldn't wait to have another trip!

Tom: That's nice. But you look kinda tired.

John: I guess I am suffering post-vacation blues. I don't want to work. Work sucks! I just want to lie on the beach...


Tom: 早啊,John。你的假期过得咋样?

John: 特爽!我在岛上玩得很好,我真想快点去下一次旅行!

Tom: 真好,不过你看起来有点累的样子。

John:我估计是节后综合征吧。我不想上班,上班太没劲了!我只想在沙滩上躺着...



如何克服“节后综合征”?

1. Plan your next vacation

Scientists find out that the experience of a pleasurable holiday and the anticipation of that holiday evoke the same neurobiological joy. 

科学家发现,一次愉快的假期经历和期待这样的一个假期,能够在神经层面上触发相同的愉悦感。


2. Be sociable

Psychologists say keeping busy will help take your mind off the negative feelings associated with going back to work
心理学家称,忙碌起来能够分散你的注意力,不去想节后工作的种种负面情绪。


3. Restore exercise and sleep routine 

恢复锻炼和作息


Heading back to the gym and restoring your regular sleeping pattern will help speed up the post-holiday re-adjustment phase.

重返健身房、恢复正常的作息习惯,能够加速节后调整身心的进程。


4. Learn acceptance

学会接受


When we come back to our everyday routine after having this period to recharge, we may feel a bit deflated as things have not changed and we are coming back to old habits and behaviours that we may be wanting space from.  

当回到生活的正轨,我们会感觉有点泄气,因为没有改变发生,而我们再次回到了那些让人想逃离的生活。


5. Put away the bottle

Dietitians say, keeping clear of alcohol is a crucial dietary step when trying to beat an emotional slump.

6. Stock the pantry

Being 'hangry' can be misinterpreted as post-holiday blues

因而饿肚子而烦躁(hangry=hungry+angry),会被你的大脑认定为“节后综合征”。


7. Stay hydrated

多喝水


A lack of hydration leads to less concentration, less vitality and can definitely give you a flat mood.

缺乏水分将导致注意力不集中、缺乏活力以及心情消沉。
