The National Meteorological Center renewed its orange warning today for low temperatures. Big temperature drops and gale-force-winds are in the forecast for most of the country. Temperatures are expected to plunge 【骤降】16 to 20 degrees Celsius throughout tomorrow in some parts of central, eastern and north-eastern China. Zhang Yue has the details.

Temperatures dropped by 12 to 20 across the north today from western Inner Mongolia to Beijing, some areas in Shaanxi province including the city of Yan’an, received their first snowfall of the year yesterday as temperatures dropped to minus 19 degrees. Weather services have advised city departments to protect agricultural facilities from the strong cold winds and extreme temperature drops to mitigate 【使缓和】any losses or damages. Subzero temperatures are expected in many cities and areas north of the Yangtze River, and in the south, cities may experience overnight lows of around zero degrees by Thursday (12/01). The China Meteorological Administration expect temperatures in northern China to begin to rise again tomorrow, whereas areas in the south won’t start to warm up again until the end of the week.

随着寒潮来袭，从内蒙古西部到北京地区，整个北方的气温下降了12至20摄氏度，包括陕西省延安市在内的一些地区气温骤降至零下19摄氏度，并于昨天迎来了初雪。气象部门提醒，本次寒潮过程降温剧烈、风力大，对种植养殖户影响较大，能源保供、果业、设施农业和畜牧业是防范重点。预计长江以北的多个城市和地区气温将降至零度以下；部分南方城市夜间最低温度预计将于本周四（12月1日）跌破零度。中国气象局预计，中国北方的气温明天开始回升，而南方地区直到本周末才会开始回暖。

2.RECORD NUMBER OF TRAINS USE CHINA-EU RAILWAY

中欧班列东通道累计通行突破2万列

The number of China-Europe freight trains travelingvia Manzhouli and Suifenhe have surpassed 【超过】20,000. The trains have transported more than 1.85million twenty-foot equivalent units of goods. The east passage of theChina-Europe railway connects China to 13 countries including Russia, Poland,Germany, and Belgium. In-bound trains stop in 60 Chinese cities. About 30% ofall railway freight 【货运】in China is transported along the east passage of China-Europe route. Thisyear, a record high of more than 5,000 trains used the railway.

截至今日（11月29日），中欧班列东通道满洲里和绥芬河铁路口岸通行的中欧班列累计突破2万列、运送货物超185万标箱。经中欧班列东通道出境，可通达俄罗斯、波兰、德国、比利时等13个国家，入境班列主要到达国内60个城市。中欧班列东通道年通行量占全国铁路口岸总量的三成，连续九年实现增长，特别是今年年内通行数量首次突破5千列大关，创历史新高。

With the onset of a cold weather, lawmakers in theGerman parliament are struggling to keep warm. As the Bundestag curtails itsenergy consumption amid the crisis, some MPs have complained that suchconditions create a health risk. Zhang Hong has more.

Lawmakers in Germany have been wearing turtleneck pullovers under their jackets and shawls or scarves in the offices of the Bundestag. Green Party lawmaker Renate Kuenast complained that even while wearing a down jacket and constantly running around the office, she was freezing. Temperatures inside the German parliament are said to have dropped significantly just over a week ago. In Kuenast’s office, the thermostat showed18.2 degrees Celcius, though she said it was cooler the day before. Under such circumstances, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that both France and Germany want to further strengthen their cooperation in face of the energy crisis, and that they had signed a joint declaration to this effect.

Also, France yesterday announced that the Emile-Huchet coalfired power plant in Saint-Avold, which closed in March, will resume producing electricity again on Monday(11/28) morning due to the impending energy shortage.
