英国FCO特使乔安娜·罗珀 | 2017年任职讲话

Hello, I’m Joanna Roper. And I’m delighted to have been appointed at the Foreign Commonwealth Office’s first ever Special Envoy for gender equality. And I’m really looking forward to taking up this exciting new role in April.

大家好，我是乔安娜·罗珀。我很高兴被任命为外交部有史以来第一位性别平等特使。我真的很期待今年4月份的这个新角色。

This is really important work. Gender inequality is still too common. It denies girls access to education which could otherwise transform lives and communities.

这是一项非常重要的工作，两性不平等问题仍然普遍存在。它剥夺了女孩接受教育的机会，改变了社区形势和她们的生活。

Sexual violence and abuse destroys lives as do female genital mutilation, forced marriage, human trafficking and too often women still face a lack of control or choices over their lives, their families, their bodies, their decisions. We must break down the barriers that hold women back.

性骚扰和性虐待，切割女性生殖器官、强迫婚姻、贩卖人口摧残着女性的生命。而且妇女在生活、家庭、身体、决定方面仍然面临缺乏决定或选择的问题。我们必须打破阻碍妇女前进的障碍。

As Special Envoy, I’m looking forward to leading the FCO’s work to put in place the Foreign Secretary’s vision of a foreign policy that consciously and consistently delivers for women and girls that bring our diplomatic weight to influence internationally and that showcase the UK’s leading international reputation in this area.

作为特使，我期待着领导外交部的工作，以实现外交大臣对外交人员的愿景，自觉且始终如一地为妇女和女孩提供政策，使我们的外交在国际上产生影响，并在这方面展示英国在国际上的先导性。
