Good evening, everyone. I was meant to be there with you in person and I'm heartbroken not to be. But I couldn't pass up on the opportunity to gush about an artist who really is acting royalty, Dame Helen Mirren.

But to use the word royalty doesn't really fit when describing who Helen truly is. She's the opposite of grand. Instead she's an actress who wants to roll up her sleeves with the rest of us and just get on with the job.

She loves collaboration. She loves to act. She loves to play. She lacks the airs and graces that we often attribute to actors of her caliber. And we all assume she was classically trained in her craft. In fact, she wasn't. Her parents were against her becoming an actress at all.
