20.The little prince

After a long walk through the desert, the rocks and the snow, the little prince finally found a great road.
All great roads lead to places where people live.
"Hello, you guys." The little prince said.
It was a garden where roses were in full bloom.
"Hello." The roses said.
The little prince looked at the flowers and they were all the same as the one he had.
"What kind of flowers are you?" The little prince asked in amazement.
"We are roses." The flowers said.
"Ah!" The little prince said⋯.
He felt very unfortunate. The flower he had had had told him that she was the only one in the whole universe

The little prince said to himself: "If she saw this, she would be very annoyed... she would cough even more.
She will cough harder and pretend to be dead to avoid being laughed at. Then I have to pretend to nurse her, because if I don't, she'll have to pretend to die in order to avoid the shame.
If not, she might actually die in order to embarrass me..."
Then he added: "I thought I had a unique flower, but all I have is an ordinary

小王子自言自语地说：“如果她看到这些，她是一定会很恼火⋯她会咳嗽得
更厉害，并且为避免让人耻笑，她会佯装死去。那么，我还得装着去护理她，因
为如果不这样的话，她为了使我难堪，她可能会真的死去⋯”
接着他又说道：“我还以为我有一朵独一无二的花呢，我有的仅是一朵普通
的花。这朵花，再加上三座只有我膝盖那么高的火山，而且其中一座还可能是永
远熄灭了的，这一切不会使我成为一个了不起的王子⋯”于是，他躺在草丛中哭
泣起来。
