春运客流增加疫情防控加强

Zhuo Li, vice-director of emergency response with the Ministry of Transport, said at a news conference on Wednesday that the Spring Festival holiday will lead to a surge in trips. "We estimate that during the 40-day travel rush — from Jan 17 to Feb 25 — trips will outnumber 2021, when 870 million trips were made, and may even be higher than in 2020, when 1.48 billion trips were made." "We will ask vehicle operators to check travelers' health codes," Zhuo said, adding that the ministry will "strengthen efforts to crack down on illegal behavior on transportation and prevent travelers from being stranded due to inclement weather." 
交通运输部应急办副主任卓立在12月29日的新闻发布会上介绍，全国春运客运量较2021年8.7亿人次将会有较大幅度增长，甚至将超过2020年的14.8亿人次。2022年春运将从1月17日开始，至2月25日结束，共40天。卓立表示，交通运输部将督促指导客运经营者严格查验旅客健康码，依法严厉查处道路旅客运输违规运营行为，坚决杜绝出现极端恶劣天气下旅客大面积滞留现象。

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will continue to order the suspension of group tours to destinations with areas listed as having a medium or high risk of infection over the holidays. Yu Changguo, the ministry's deputy director of market management, said at the news conference that travel agencies should monitor the health of staff members and organize regular nucleic acid tests for them.

China issues white paper on export controls
中国首次发布出口管制白皮书

China issued on Wednesday its first white paper on export controls. The document, titled "China's Export Controls" and released by the State Council Information Office, elaborated on China's position, institutions, and practices in improving export control governance, as well as its commitments and actions to safeguard world peace and development, and security at the national and international level. 
国务院新闻办公室12月29日发布《中国的出口管制》白皮书。这是中国首次发布出口管制的白皮书，旨在全面介绍中国完善出口管制治理的立场、制度和实践，阐述中国维护世界和平与发展，维护国家安全和国际安全的主张和行动。

The main body of the white paper consists of four parts: China's basic position on export control, continued improvement to the legal and regulatory system for export control, modernization of the export control system, and international exchanges and cooperation.
白皮书正文包括四个部分，分别是：中国出口管制的基本立场、不断完善出口管制法律制度和管理体制、持续推进出口管制体系现代化、积极开展出口管制国际交流与合作。

教育部:全力促进更高质量就业

The Ministry of Education said on Tuesday it will make the utmost efforts to ensure college graduates find fuller and higher-quality employment amid a record number of students graduating from university next year. China is expected to have 10.76 million new college graduates next year, up by 1.67 million from this year, with the total number of graduates and the growth volume both setting records, said Wang Hui, director of the ministry's department of college student affairs. The country's economy is resilient and the economic fundamentals remain strong in the long term, which has laid a solid foundation for ensuring stable employment for college graduates, Wang said at a news conference. 
12月28日，教育部高校学生司司长王辉在新闻发布会上表示，2022届高校毕业生规模预计1076万人，同比增加167万，规模和增量均创历史新高，教育部将全力促进2022届高校毕业生更加充分更高质量就业。王辉表示，我国经济韧性强，长期向好的基本面不会改变，稳就业工作的基础是坚实的。

However, the employment situation remains complex as the country's economic development still faces international and domestic challenges. Some graduates find it difficult to find jobs while some companies also have trouble hiring new employees, Wang said, adding that employment demand and supply varies greatly among students according to major, industries and regions. The ministry will work with other government departments to ensure local authorities and universities effectively implement various employment promotion policies, Wang said.
但是，目前我国经济面临国内外各项挑战，就业形势仍然复杂。"就业难"与"招人难"并存，不同专业、行业和地区间用人需求差异较大。教育部将会同相关部门，推动各地各高校全面落实就业工作责任，确保各项促就业政策措施落地落实。

WHO warns of 'tsunami of cases' from Omicron, Delta

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), cautioned on Wednesday that the more transmissible Omicron, along with the currently circulating Delta variants, might lead to "a tsunami of cases".

He  said at a press briefing that "this will put immense pressure on exhausted health workers and health systems on the brink of collapse and again disrupt lives and livelihoods," citing the pressure as not only new COVID-19 patients requiring hospitalization but also a large number of health workers getting sick themselves.
