Simba and Nala laughed as they ran in and out of animal herds (兽群) to escape (逃脱，甩掉) from Zazu. “We lost him!” cried Nala.

辛巴和娜娜边笑边跑，为了躲避沙祖，他们在动物群中不停穿梭。“咱们甩掉他了！”娜娜喊道。

Together they played, tumbling (翻滚) and rolling (转圈). With a thump (砰的一声), they landed next to a huge elephant skull (头骨).

然后他们俩一起嬉戏起来，翻滚转圈。砰的一声，他们倒在了一个巨大的大象头骨边上。

Zazu caught up with (追上) them, but it was too late. Banzai (斑仔), Shenzi (绅子), and Ed (艾德), three drooling (流着口水的) hyenas with sharp teeth, surrounded (包围) them!

沙祖追上他们了，不过已经太迟了。斑仔、绅子和艾德，三只流着口水、露着尖牙的鬣狗包围了他们！

The hyenas grabbed (抓住) Zazu first. “Why don’t you pick on somebody your own size?” shouted Simba.

鬣狗先抓住了沙祖。“你们为什么不敢抓和你们一样大的动物？”辛巴大喊道。

Then one tried to catch Nala, but Simba swiped (扬起爪子) his claws across the hyena’s cheek.

其中一只鬣狗准备抓娜娜，不过辛巴很快就在鬣狗脸上挠了一爪子。

Suddenly, a tremendous (极大的) roar shook the ground. It was Mufasa!

突然，一声怒吼震动了大地。啊！是木法沙！

His giant (巨大的) paw struck one of the hyenas as he growled (咆哮), “If you ever come near my son again…” The hyenas ran away before he could finish.

他咆哮着，伸出他的大爪子按住了其中一只鬣狗，“如果你们再敢靠近我的儿子……”鬣狗们没等他说完，就赶紧逃跑了。

Mufasa scolded (责备) his son on the way home. “You disobeyed (违抗) me, Simba.”

回家的路上，木法沙责备了辛巴。“你违抗了我，辛巴。”

“I was just trying to be brave, like you, Dad,” said Simba softly.

“爸爸，我只是想像你一样勇敢，”辛巴低声说道。

“Being brave doesn’t mean you go looking for trouble,” replied Mufasa.

“自找麻烦可不是勇敢，”木法沙回答道。

Then Mufasa told Simba how the kings of the past look down on them from the stars above. “They will always be there to guide you … and so will I.”

然后，木法沙告诉辛巴，荣耀国以前的国王们都在群星间注视着他们。“他们会永远在那里指引你……我也会的。”

Scar was angry when the hyenas told him that Simba had escaped. But he quickly came up with a new plan to get rid of (除掉) Simba and his father. “I will be king!” he cried.

当鬣狗们告诉刀疤辛巴从他们那里逃跑的事后，刀疤非常生气。不过，他很快又想出一个新计划，来除掉辛巴和木法沙。“我一定会成为国王！”刀疤喊道。

The next day, Scar found Simba. “Your father has a surprise for you,” he said. Scar led Simba down a steep gorge and told him to wait there.

第二天，刀疤找到辛巴。“你爸爸要给你个惊喜，”他说道。然后，刀疤领着辛巴来到陡峭的峡谷下面，他让辛巴在这里等着。

Then Scar signaled to the hyenas to frighten a herd of wildebeests (角马). The panicked animals stampeded right towards�Simba! Hearing the thunder of hooves, Mufasa looked into the gorge and saw his son. He leaped down and saved Simba’s life.

刀疤示意鬣狗们去吓唬一群角马。受了惊吓的角马们朝着辛巴蜂拥过来！听见轰鸣的蹄声，木法沙朝峡谷看过来，竟然看到了自己的儿子。他立刻跳下来，救了辛巴的命。

Simba was safe, but Mufasa was still in danger. As he tried to climb away from the stampede, the rocks crumbled (坍塌) beneath him.

辛巴安全了，但是木法沙还没有脱离险境。正当他想从角马群中爬上去的时候，他脚下面的石头碎了。

Struggling up the cliff (悬崖), Mufasa saw Scar. “Brother, help me!” he cried.

木法沙挣扎着往悬崖上爬，这时候他看见了刀疤。“弟弟，快帮帮我！”他喊道。

Scar dug his sharp claws into Mufasa’s paws and whispered, “Long live the king!” Then he let Mufasa go, and he disappeared beneath the herd below.

刀疤用自己的尖爪子狠狠扎着木法沙的爪子，小声说道：“国王万岁！”然后他就松开了木法沙，木法沙就这样掉下去，消失在了角马群中。

Simba had seen only that his father had fallen. When the stampede (兽群惊跑，狂奔) was gone, Simba ran to Mufasa. He tried to wake him, but the Lion King was dead.

辛巴只看见爸爸掉了下来。当角马群走了之后，辛巴跑到木法沙边上，他想叫醒爸爸，可是木法沙已经死了。

“Help!” cried Simba.

“救命！”辛巴大喊。

Scar came to Simba’s side. “If it weren’t for you,” he said, “your father would still be alive! Run away and never return!”

这时，刀疤来到辛巴旁边，“如果不是为了救你，”他说，“你爸爸也不会死了！你快走吧，永远不要回来！”

Heartbroken, poor Simba ran away as fast as he could.

可怜的辛巴伤心欲绝，他用最快速度离开了这里。
