Official election results showed a landslide victory for the U.K.'s center-left Labour Party. Incoming Prime Minister Keir Starmer hailed his win as historic.

He gave his first speech saying, he will lead a "government of service" on a "mission of national renewal."

For the Conservatives, it was the worst defeat in their party's nearly 200-year history. Sunak retained his seat in Parliament but resigned as Conservative Party leader, and apologized to the country.
