29 结果状语从句

1、定义

什么是结果状语从句呢？结果状语从句的从句是用来补充说明主句中谓语动词发生的结果的，一般位于主句之后。常用来连接结果状语从句的连接词有：so that、so...that...、such...that...等。

2、引导词

（1）用so that引导

so that既可以引导目的状语从句(表示“为了，以便”)，也可以引导结果状语从句(表示“因此，以至于”)。

① 他急得睡不着。

He worried so that he couldn’t sleep.

(so that引导结果状语从句)

② 天气寒冷， 河水都结冰了。

It was very cold,so that the river froze.

③ 我赶早来上课， 以便早点看到我旁边的同学。

I came to the class early so that I could see the classmate beside me.

(so that引导目的状语从句)

Tips：当连接目的状语从句时，一般that从句中会含有情态动词，而当引导结果状语从句时，大多不用情态动词。或者有种更简单的分辨方法，若从句前有逗号，一般为结果状语从句，反之一般为目的状语从句。

（2）用so...that引导

①so+形容词/副词+that从句

他病得那样重，有两个护士照顾他。

He was so ill that two nurses attended on him.

房间里如此之热,以至于她觉得头晕目眩。

The room was so hot that she felt dizzy.

②so+形容词/副词+a/an+可数名词单数+that从句

他是一个非常害羞的男孩，不敢在众人面前说话。

He was so shy a boy that he dare not speak in public.

③so+many/much/few/little（少）+名词+that从句

他挣的钱太少，难以养家糊口。

He earned so little money that he couldn’t support his family.

（3）用such...that...引导

与so...that...不同，so是副词，因此修饰形容词或副词，而  such...that...中的such是形容词，因此修饰的是名词。

其常见的结构用法有：

①such+不定冠词+形容词+单数可数名词+that

他游得这么好，真叫我相形见绌。

He's such a good swimmer that he makes me look sick.

她丈夫很粗暴，没人喜欢他。

Her husband is such a bear that nobody likes him.

②such+形容词+复数可数名词+that

他对我们讲了那么些有趣的故事，我们全都哈哈大笑。

He told us such funny stories that we all laughed.

③such+形容词+不可数名词+that

在这么恶劣的天气里出去太荒唐。

It is such terrible weather that it is absurd to go out.

3.  易错提示

（1）当名词前有many much few little等表示数量多少的限定词时，应该用so，而不能用such.

顾客很多，售货员应接不暇。

There were so many customers that the shop assistants couldn’t attend to them all.

（2）在so...that，such...that句型中，so或such位于句首时，主句要倒装。

光速如此之快，以至于我们很难想象他的速度。

So fast does light travel that it is difficult for us to imagine its speed.

（3）结果状语从句中的that可以省略。
