98 场景复习：运动休闲（一）

大家好，欢迎来到《不一样的走遍美国》！

今天，我们进入一个新的主题场景：运动休闲。在《走遍美国》上册书中，我们已经聊过了一些运动。斯图尔特家的爸爸，牙医Philip大学的时候曾经是学校tennis team的一员，而他的小儿子Robin不喜欢tennis，却对钓鱼fishing，情有独钟。

【场景复现】 

我们今天先来学一些词，给运动分分类。按照参加运动的人数来分，我们有团队运动, team sports。You do team sports in a team, cooperating with your teammates. For example, basketball and football are both team sports。

和Team Sports相对的是个人运动individual sports。比如大部分的田径运动，track and field。跑步用的“跑道”，我们称之为track；别的一些田径运动的“场地”，我们叫field。所以track and field就用来代指“田径运动”。

刚才我们按照参加人数给运动分了类。除此之外，按照运动的性质来分，我们有Competitive Sports和Recreational Sports。competitive sports,就是“竞技运动”，比如ball games。recreational sports就是休闲运动。

比如Robin最爱的钓鱼，fishing；再比如很多人喜欢的远足，hiking，都是Recreational Sports. Recreational Sports基本上纯属休闲性质，不会在类似于the Olympics这样的体育赛事中出现。

聊到了这么多运动，那么你最爱的运动是什么呢？国人最爱的应该是乒乓ping-pong或者table tennis；还有很多朋友可能会喜欢badminton，羽毛球。单打的ping-pong或者badminton属于individual sports，而双打就可以算作team sports.我们喜欢ping-pong, badminton，越来越多的老外也爱上了这两项运动。

但是，跟他们聊运动的时候，更大概率会引起他们兴趣的，一个是baseball，棒球，另一个是football。Football这个词比较微妙。我们知道是“足球”的意思，但是，如果你跟一个美国人说到football，他就不一定跟你聊足球了。在美国人看来，football是“橄榄球”，soccer才是“足球”。而美国人对football的兴趣一般是会大于soccer的。

下面我们来听一段对话，James和Peter在讨论一项体育运动，和与这项体育运动相关的一个国际赛事。我们来听听，看James和Peter具体讨论了什么运动和什么赛事。

James: What’s your favorite sport?

Peter: Soccer! For sure!

James: Same here! You must have watched last year’s World Cup!

相信大家听出来了，James问Peter，你最爱的运动是什么。Peter的回答是soccer，足球；James说：same here。这是口语里面很常用的一个表达，意思是：我也一样。表达这个意思的时候，你是不是会想说：me too?——换成same here会更加地道。James和Peter一样，都是球迷，They are both big fans of soccer. James提到了一个Soccer相关的赛事：World Cup世界杯。

在收听节目的你，会不会也是一个足球迷呢？那你一定不会错过这个四年一度的足球盛宴。Peter也一样。当James推测说You must have watched last year’s World Cup!你一定看过去年的世界杯，Peter说：

Peter: Yes, every game! Although my favorite team was out during the group stage…

James: Oh, do you mean Germany?

Peter: Exactly!

Peter关注了上届世界杯的每一场比赛。然而，那次世界杯给他留下的遗憾是：my favorite team was outduring the group stage。The group stage—— Group，队伍；stage，阶段，the group stage就是“小组赛阶段”。表示“被淘汰”这个意思，用一个形容词out就可以了——my favorite team was outduring the group stage，Peter最喜欢的球队——德国队不幸在小组赛阶段惨遭淘汰。

接下来，他们又聊到了喜欢的球员。

James: Who was your favorite player of this World Cup?

Peter: Paul Pogba from the French team!

James: I like him, too! He plays in the Premier League for Manchester United!

Peter: Yes, the midfielder! He is talented!

Peter最喜欢的球员是Paul Pogba，法国队中锋博格巴。中锋，英文叫midfielder。mid表示“中间”；field我们刚说过，意思是“场地”，这个词从字面上就可以看出来，意思是：在场地中间的，也就是“中锋”。下面，我们完整地听一下刚才那段对话，请注意捕捉我们学过的表达：

James: What’s your favorite sport?

Peter: Soccer! For sure!
