40万教师岗位招毕业生

More than 400,000 fresh college graduates will be hired to work as teachers at kindergartens and primary and secondary schools this year to ease the employment pressure on new graduates due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a new notice said on Wednesday. 

教育部、人社部、国资委等6部门6日联合发布的最新通知称，今年将招收40多万大学毕业生补充中小学和幼儿园教师队伍，以缓解因新冠肺炎疫情造成的毕业生就业压力。

The notice - jointly issued by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and three other departments - said the students can work as teachers before they get teaching credentials, as the country has postponed teacher certification exams to the second half of this year over coronavirus concerns. 

通知称，毕业生可以"先上岗、后考证"，出于对新冠肺炎疫情的考虑，我国已将教师资格证考试推迟至今年下半年。

This year, the Ministry of Education is planning to increase the enrollment of master's degree students by 189,000, while the country's bachelor's degree programs will strive to admit an additional 322,000 junior college students, according to the notice. 

今年，教育部计划将硕士研究生招生规模扩大18.9万、普通专升本扩招32.2万。

The number of graduates hired through a special program to work at rural primary and secondary schools will also be increased by 5,000 to 105,000 this year, it said. It also encouraged more university graduates to work at grassroots levels and rural areas and apply to enlist in the Chinese armed forces.

今年通过特别项目赴农村中小学就业的毕业生人数也将增加5000人至10.5万人。国家还鼓励更多大学毕业生到基层和农村工作或参军入伍。

"Better Days" became the biggest winner by taking home eight awards out of 12 nominations, including the best film, best director and best actress, at the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards on Wednesday. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year's awards for the first time called off the star-studded offline ceremony and simply announced 19 winners via a 10-minute livestreaming broadcast. 

6日，第39届香港电影金像奖获奖名单公布，获得12项提名的电影《少年的你》最终拿下了最佳影片、最佳导演、最佳女主角等8个大奖，成为了本届金像奖的最大赢家。受新冠疫情影响，今年的金像奖首次最终取消了星光熠熠的实体颁奖礼，而是以10分钟的在线直播的形式公布了19个奖项的归属。

Directed by Derek Kwok-cheung Tsang and starring Zhou Dongyu and Jackson Yee, "Better Days" tells the story of a couple of teenagers supporting each other in difficult times and was awarded the best screenplay. 

由曾国祥执导、周冬雨和易烊千玺主演的电影《少年的你》讲述了两个青少年在艰难的日子里互相支持抱团取暖的故事，影片也获得了最佳编剧奖。

The film also makes Zhou Dongyu, the Golden Horse winner in 2016, the first post-90 Chinese actress who won best actress in two renowned film awards in the Chinese-speaking world, and the 19-year-old singer and actor Jackson Yee the best new performer.

2016年曾获台湾金马奖最佳女主角的周冬雨凭借《少年的你》成为首位90后金马金像双料影后。19岁的歌手兼演员易烊千玺凭借该影片获得最佳新演员奖。

The mobile game industry hit 55 billion yuan in revenue in the domestic market from January to March, reaching the highest level in history, with an increase of over 49% year-on-year.

Affected by the novel coronavirus outbreak, more people than ever have stayed at home and turned to online games, as several gaming companies featured a surge for net profits. "The epidemic to a great extent has benefited the gaming industry," a manager from an A share-listed gaming company told Shanghai Securities News. "There are fewer entertainment options for people, while the flexibility and high interactivity of home-based games satisfy user demands."

Analysis from Gamma Data, a Beijing-based research company, concluded that 40% of gaming enterprises saw a net profit increase of over 50%, while even 24% of companies doubled their net profits in the first quarter.

4 /Fauci dismisses lab virus theory

The top infectious disease expert in the US dismissed theories that the coronavirus was either manufactured or accidentally released from a Chinese laboratory. Anthony Fauci, the director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that available research indicates the virus evolved naturally during an interview with National Geographic on Monday. 

美国顶级传染病专家近日驳斥了新冠病毒是由中国实验室人为制造或意外泄露的理论。美国国家过敏症及传染病研究所所长安东尼·福奇4日接受《国家地理》采访时称，现有研究显示新冠病毒是自然进化而成。

"If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats and what's out there now, [the scientific evidence] is very, very strongly leaning toward this could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated...Everything about the stepwise evolution over time strongly indicates that [this virus] evolved in nature and then jumped species," Fauci said. 

福奇说："通过观察蝙蝠中病毒的进化过程及病毒现在的情况，(根据这些科学证据)几乎可以肯定地说，新冠病毒并非起源于人为制造或蓄意操纵。

Based on the scientific evidence, he also doesn't entertain an alternate theory - that someone found the coronavirus in the wild, brought it to a lab, and then it accidentally escaped.
