Once upon a time, there was a young shepherd boy.
从前，有一个年轻的放羊男孩。
Every morning, the boy led his father’s sheep to an open field. There, the sheep grazed on grass.
每天早上，男孩都会牵着父亲的羊群，到一片开阔的草地上放羊，让羊儿们在那里吃草。
The boy stayed in the lonely field with the sheep all day.
男孩很孤单，只有他的羊儿们一天到晚地跟他作伴。
One day, the boy was bored. He decided to play a joke on the villagers.
有一天，男孩觉得无聊透了。他决定跟村民们开个玩笑。
He ran to the village and cried, “Wolf! Help! There is a wolf attacking my sheep!”
他跑到村子里，大声喊叫：“狼来啦！救命啊！有只狼咬我的羊呢！”
The villagers were kind. They left their work and came running to chase the wolf away.
村民们心地非常善良。他们停下了手中的活儿，赶紧跑过去驱赶狼。
But it was a trick. The sheep were fine. They were happily eating.
但这不过是场恶作剧。羊儿们都在喜滋滋地吃着草，什么事都没有
There was no wolf.
并没有狼。
The boy laughed. It was so easy to fool the villagers!
男孩哈哈大笑。这些村民真是太好骗了！
The boy played the same trick again and again. Each time, the villagers came running. Each time, there was no wolf.
男孩一连耍了好多次这样的恶作剧。每一次，村民们都会跑过来；而每一次，都没有看到狼。
One day, wolves really did attack the boy’s sheep.
有一天，狼群真的来吃男孩的羊了。
The boy was scared. He ran to the village and screamed, “Help! Wolves are attacking my sheep!”
男孩吓坏了。他跑到村子里，大喊道：“救命啊！一群狼在咬我的羊！”
But no one listened to the boy. No one came to help. The villagers did not trust the boy
但是，没有人听男孩说话，也没有人过去帮忙。村民们不信任男孩。
And the wolves ate his sheep.
然后，这群狼吃掉了他的羊儿们。
Because the boy had lied so many times, nobody believed him, even when he was telling the truth.
这是因为男孩撒了太多次谎，不会有人再相信他，就算他说真话的时候也不例外。
