Once upon a time, there was a fisherman and his wife who lived in a small, dilapidated hut by the sea.（从前，有一个渔夫和他的妻子，他们住在海边一间破旧的小屋里。）
The fisherman went out to fish every day.（渔夫每天都出去捕鱼。）

One day, he cast his net and when he pulled it in, he found a flounder in it.（有一天，他撒下渔网，收网时，发现网里有一条比目鱼。）
The flounder said to him, "Please let me go. I am not an ordinary flounder. I am an enchanted prince."（比目鱼对他说：“请放了我吧。我不是一条普通的比目鱼，我是一位中了魔法的王子。”）
The fisherman was kind-hearted and replied, "Well, you don't look too tasty anyway. Go on, swim away."（渔夫心地善良，回答说：“嗯，反正你看起来也不太好吃。去吧，游走好了。”）
So he threw the flounder back into the water.（于是他把比目鱼扔回了水里。）

When the fisherman returned home and told his wife about what had happened, she was very angry.（当渔夫回到家，把发生的事告诉他妻子时，她非常生气。）
"You fool!" she shouted.（“你这个笨蛋！”她喊道。）
"Why didn't you ask for something in return? Go back and tell that flounder that I want a nice, new cottage."（“你为什么不要求点回报呢？回去告诉那条比目鱼，我想要一座漂亮的新小屋。”）
The fisherman was reluctant, but he didn't want to make his wife even angrier.（渔夫很不情愿，但他不想让妻子更生气。）
