If you live for people's acceptance, you'll die from their rejection.
Sometimes we try so hard to get absolute approval from everyone. When people like us, that means we fit in, we are wanted, we are valued, and people care about us.
But by letting other people determine our worth, we are giving up all of our power and happiness to that person, and they can manipulate us into whoever they want.
If that person can sense that you will always look to them for approval, they will always find something wrong with you so that you are constantly having to change who you are. Because they know that they can take advantage of you.
Not everyone can be pleased, and there is no reason to make everyone happy. It is important to put others first in some occasions, but we also have to remember that our happiness and our definition of ourselves are just as important.
