The highly anticipated animated adaptation of the Hugo Award-winning science fiction novel "The Three-Body Problem" by Liu Cixin was released online recently. The web drama opened with the release of the first two episodes, with more set for release each Saturday, according to its streaming platform Bilibili.
备受期待的改编自刘慈欣曾获雨果奖的科幻小说《三体》的动画近日在网上发布。据播放平台哔哩哔哩动画弹幕网（B站）消息，首周两集连播，此后每周六11点更新一集。

News of the animated series' release soon made headlines on Chinese social media platforms. The new show hit a record number of simultaneous online viewers for a drama on the platform, Bilibili said. 
《三体》动画上线等话题冲上微博热搜，引发网友围观。B站表示，动画创造了平台同时在线观看人数的纪录。

"The Three-Body Problem" is the first book in a sci-fi trilogy that revolves around astrophysicist Ye Wenjie's contact with the Trisolaran civilization existing in a three-sun system, and the centuries-long clashes that follow between earthlings and the aliens.
《三体》是科幻作家刘慈欣创作的长篇科幻小说系列的第一部。围绕着天体物理学家叶文洁与三体文明的接触，讲述了地球人类文明和三体文明的信息交流、生死搏杀及两个文明在宇宙中的兴衰历程。

The “Three-Body” series is Liu’s best-selling apocalyptic space opera trilogy. The trilogy has since gained a massive following in China and around the world. especially after the series’ first installment won the Hugo Award in 2015, a year after its English translation was published.
《三体》系列是刘慈欣笔下最畅销的太空史诗三部曲，在国内外都有大批粉丝。特别是该系列的第一部的英译本出版一年后获得了2015年雨果奖最佳长篇小说奖之后。


Amid the growing appetite for the sci-fi genre, Liu’s works have been adapted into different formats, including animations, games, films, and TV series. In January 2022, the final episode of the Chinese audio drama "Three-Body" was released on the online audio-sharing platform Ximalaya, where it received great acclaim from internet users.
随着科幻作品在国内走红，《三体》系列也被改编成包括动画、游戏、电影、电视剧等不同类型。2022年1月，喜马拉雅上线了《三体》广播剧的最后一集，当时备受好评。

Tencent Video revealed in November 2021 that a live-action TV drama based on the same book was on its list of dramas to be released or pursued by the online streaming platform, releasing its first trailer cut but providing no specific release date in 2022.
