So, you know, I say half in jest, but…but it's actually really sad. Because...certainly sad for me, as an academic.

这话虽然是半开玩笑，但其实很可悲。因为...作为学者，我觉得很可悲。



Because these things are good, are important. Things make it difference, can make even more of a difference.

因为这些论文都非常精彩，非常重要，能有所作为，甚至不仅仅是有所作为。



But not accessible to most people. And this is where positive psychology comes in, and this is also where this class comes in.

但是对大众来说晦涩难懂，所以我们需要积极心理学，需要这门课程。



The explicit mandate of positive psychology as well as of this class is to create a bridge between the Ivory tower and main street.

积极心理学及本课程的宗旨非常明确，就是要在象牙塔及大众间构建桥梁。



In other words, it is to bring the rigor, the substance, the empirical foundation, the science from academia and merge it with accessibility of the self-help or New Age movement. In a way the best of both worlds.

换句话说 就是要把严谨、实质、经验基础、学术科学与自助或新纪元运动的通俗易懂相结合，充分发挥两者所长。



And this explains the popularity of the field of positive psychology, science that works. This class will be taught on two levels. The first level it will be taught like any other class.

这也是积极心理学大受欢迎的原因。本课程将分为两个阶段。第一阶段将像其他任何课程一样教授。
