Shanghai Port registered a throughput of over 4.3 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in July, a record high for the period, the port operator said Tuesday. From January to July, the port's total throughput saw positive growth compared with the same period last year, despite the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, according to Shanghai International Port (Group). The daily average throughput in July neared 140,000 TEUs, recovering to pre-epidemic levels, the company said. 
上海国际港务集团8月2日发布消息称，上海港7月集装箱吞吐量完成超430万标准箱，创历史同期新高。今年1至7月克服疫情造成的干扰，上海港累计完成集装箱吞吐量同比实现正增长。上海港7月日均吞吐量接近14万标准箱，已经恢复至疫情前水平。

Chinese sci-fi comedy "Moon Man" was released over the weekend to critical acclaim, generating revenue of approximately 1.4 billion yuan by Wednesday. Driven by the smash hit, summer box office revenue growth has picked up speed. China's box office revenue totals from June 1 to July 31 hit 5.42 billion yuan, up from 5.33 billion yuan in the same period last year, according to the latest data from box office tracker Maoyan. "Undoubtedly, 'Moon Man' will raise people's expectations and could be a big boon to the box office market that was hit by COVID-19," said the president of the China Film Critics Association. The story of "Moon Man" revolves around an astronaut who finds himself stranded on the moon and struggles to survive alone.

Pakistan's inflation climbs to 24.9% in July

Pakistan's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 24.9 percent year-on-year in July, compared with the same month a year ago, according to figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), which also said Monday that high inflation is associated with rising prices of food and non-food items. In a bid to control surging inflation in the country, the government of Pakistan announced it would lower gas prices by 3.05 rupees per liter.  However, economic experts said that the insubstantial cutting down will have little impact on the skyrocketing inflation in the country.

Spain releases new energy-saving measures

Spanish offices, stores and hospitality venues will no longer be allowed to set their cooling systems below 27 degrees Celsius (81º Fahrenheit) in summer or raise heating above 19ºC in the winter, under a new set of energy-saving measures passed Monday. The measures include switching off store window lights after 10 pm. Street lighting will not be affected. The government says the measures will not only save energy but will also bring down bills for households and businesses. Spain is one of the hottest European countries in summer. The country has already had two heat waves this year, with temperatures often surpassing 40 degrees Celsius for several days in a row. Temperatures are forecast to soar again in the first weeks of August.
