Experts say the pandemic is pushing positive change at airports at breakneck speed. What’s on the horizon? To verify passenger identities, driver’s licenses and passports are being replaced with facial-recognition and iris-scanning biometrics.

The same pace of testing and deployment of biometrics is underway internationally at airports in US, Canada, Japan, Italy, Spain and Iceland.

Mobile phones will play a critical role too, one that extends beyond mobile boarding passes, which were introduced over a decade ago.
