4. Kenya
Most schools in Kenyaprovide lunch for students, and kids line up to get their meal, which they eatin a dining hall or outside. A usual lunch in Kenya has githeri (say"gi-VEH-ree") for the main ingredient - a dish of corn and beanscooked together into a stew (炖菜). Other vegetables can be added to it, even bananasor avocados.

5. Finland
Finland was the firstcountry in the world to serve free school lunches – they’ve been doing it since1948. Kids eat in a cafeteria, getting hot meals of mostly vegetables, withmeat or fish, and bread. There are all sorts of different foods available forlunch, but there’s a big Finnish tradition of eating hernekeitto (say"herr-neh-GEY-toe") – pea soup – on Thursdays, usually withjam-covered pancakes for dessert!
6. Australia
Australian kids bringtheir lunches from home, or they get food from a canteen with parents orderingfor their kids or giving them money to buy sandwiches or snacks. They usuallyeat outside. One of the things most kids in Australia like to eat for lunch isa Vegemite and cheese sandwich. Vegemite looks like it might be some kind ofchocolate jam, but it actually tastes salty and a bit bitter. It’s very popularin Australia, though, and is eaten on toast for breakfast as well as atlunchtime.
