改编自安徒生童话《拇指姑娘》，讲述了一个从花里生出来的像拇指一般大的姑娘的历险故事。拇指姑娘坚强而美丽，向往幸福的生活，却遇到了自私、丑恶的癞蛤蟆，她究竟能否逃脱重生？能否遇到善良的好心人呢？.......

There once was a woman who wished to have a little child. She waited and waited, but a child never came. At last, she went to a fairy, and said:

从前有个女人想要一个小孩。 她等了又等，但还是没有孩子。 最后，她走到一位仙女面前说。

I wish to have a little child. Can you tell me where I can find one?

我想有个小孩。 你能告诉我在哪里可以找到吗？

Oh, that can be easily done. Here is a magical seed. It is different from the seeds that farmers plant in their fields. Plant it in a flowerpot and see what will happen.

哦，这很容易。这有一颗神奇的种子，它跟农民在田里种下的种子不一样。你把它种在花盆里，看看会发生什么。

Then the woman went home and planted the seed. Suddenly, a large flower grew.

然后她回家种下了种子。 突然，一朵大花长出来了。

It is a beautiful flower.

这真是一朵美丽的花。

The leaves slowly opened. Inside the flower sat a very small girl. She was the size of the woman’s thumb, so the woman named her Thumbelina.

树叶缓缓张开，花里坐着一个很小的女孩。 她只有女人的拇指那么大，所以女人给她起名叫拇指姑娘。

The woman cleaned a walnut shell and gave it to Thumbelina for her bed. She slept there at night, but during the day she liked to sail on a puddle in her boat, which was made from a flower petal.

那个女人洗干净了一个核桃壳，然后把它给拇指姑娘做床。她晚上睡在核桃壳里。白天她喜欢把花瓣当做船，在水里划船。

One night, while she slept in her bed, a large, ugly, wet toad hopped through an open window. She landed right on the table where Thumbelina slept.

一天晚上，当她睡在床上时，一只又大又丑又湿的蟾蜍从敞开的窗户跳了出来。她直接落在了拇指姑娘睡觉的桌子上。

What a pretty little girl. I’ll take her home to be a friend for my son.

She took the walnut-shell bed and jumped back through the window. The toad carried Thumbelina all the way back to the swamp where she lived.

她拿着胡桃壳的床，从窗户跳了回来。蟾蜍带着拇指姑娘一路回到她居住的沼泽地。

Son: Croak, croak, croak.

蟾蜍儿子：呱呱，呱呱，呱呱

Mother Toad: Don’t speak so loudly or she will wake up. Then, she might run away.

蟾蜍妈妈：别大声说话，不然会吵醒她的，她就会逃跑。

Mother Toad carried Thumbelina across the swamp water and placed her on a water lily.

蟾蜍妈妈抱着拇指姑娘穿过沼泽水，把她放在睡莲上。

Mother Toad: This lily will be like her own little island. She can live here with us and be

happy and not escape.

蟾蜍妈妈：这百合会像她自己的小岛一样。她可以和我们一起快乐的住在这里而不逃跑。

Soon, Thumbelina woke up. She began to cry when she saw that she was not at home with her mother. She was afraid because she saw that she was floating on water. She knew that she was too tiny to reach the land. Then, she saw two toads hopping toward her.

很快，拇指姑娘醒了。当她看到她不在家和妈妈在一起时，她开始哭泣。她害怕，因为她看到自己漂浮在水面上。她知道她太小了，无法回到陆地。然后，她看到两只癞蛤蟆朝她跳来。

Mother Toad: Hello little one. I am Mother Toad. This is my son. You will live happily in

the swamp with us.

Son: Croak, croak, croak.

Thumbelina: I do not want to live here. I do not want to be his friend. I want to go home!

Thumbelina sat on the leaf and cried. She did not want to live with the mean, ugly toads. The little fish that swam in the water under Thumbelina had heard all that the toads said. It made them sad to think that Thumbelina had to live with those mean, ugly toads.

拇指姑娘坐在树叶上哭了起来。她不想和卑鄙丑陋的蟾蜍一起生活。那些在拇指姑娘底下游泳的小鱼儿都听到了癞蛤蟆的话。一想到拇指姑娘不得不和那些卑鄙、丑陋的蟾蜍一起生活，他们就很难过。

Fish#1: She looks so sad, poor little thing.

第一只小鱼：她看起来很伤心，可怜的小东西。

Fish#2: We can’t let this happen!

第二只小鱼：我们不能让这种情况发生！

Fish#3: No, it can’t be!

第三只小鱼：不，不可能！

Fish#4: What can we do?

第四只小鱼：我们能做什么？

Fish#5: Grab the leaf with your teeth everyone. We will swim the little girl downstream, far away from those mean, ugly toads.

第五只小鱼：我们每个都用牙齿咬住叶子，把小女孩送到下游，远离那些卑鄙、丑陋的蟾蜍。

Thumbelina sailed past many towns, farther and farther, until they reached new lands. She was very happy and thankful that the fish had saved her from the toads.

旁白：拇指姑娘航行经过许多城镇，越来越远，直到到达新的陆地。她很高兴，也很感激这些小鱼把她从蟾蜍手中救了出来。

A little white butterfly flew around Thumbelina. Finally, he landed on her water lily. She tied her ribbon around the butterfly, and he took off, carrying her leaf on faster and faster.

旁白：一只小白蝴蝶在拇指姑娘身边飞来飞去。最后，他落在了她的睡莲上。她把丝带系在蝴蝶上，他飞走了，带着她的叶子越来越快。

Then, a bird took Thumbelina from her leaf and flew her over the trees. He placed her in his nest, where he and his bird friends fed her and sang sweetly to her.

Next, Thumbelina stayed with a small field mouse, who took the little girl into her house to keep warm during the cold winter.

Then, Thumbelina made friends with a swallow, a bird that had been hurt. She took care of him and made him well. When it was time for the swallow to leave, Thumbelina sat on the bird’s back and tied a ribbon around his feathers.

The swallow rose in the air and flew over forest and sea, high above the mountains covered with snow. Finally, they came to a beautiful country.

Swallow: This is my house, this nest in the tree. But it would not do for you to live there. You would not be comfortable because you are not a bird.

Thumbelina: Where will I go then? Where will I live?

拇指姑娘：那我要去哪里？我将住在哪里？

Swallow: You must choose one of those lovely flowers. I will put you down on it, and you will have everything that you wish. You will be very happy.

Thumbelina: Oh, that will be delightful! Please set me down on that beautiful, large white flower.

So, the swallow set her down on the large white flower. She was so surprised to see that in the middle of the flower there were tiny little people. The people were the same size as Thumbelina!

Each of them welcomed Thumbelina into their home and she lived there happily with the flowers and fairies.
