“I thought we were friends，Tom.You wouldn’t shut me out，would you，Tom？You wouldn＇t do that，now，would you，Tom？”
“Believe me，Huck，I really don＇t want to.
But what would people say？They＇d say，Ug！
Tom Sawyer＇s Gang！What despicable，unrespectable characters！They would day that because of you，Huck.You wouldn＇t enjoy that，and I wouldn’t.”
Huck was silent for some time，engaged in a mental battle.
“Well，＇ll go back to the widow for a month，”Huck said at last.＂I’ll try my best and see if I can come to stand it.But you have to promise to let me into your gang，Tom.”
