“I wonder how long we ‘ve been down
here, Tom，”said Becky.＂I can＇t hear any of
the others.We d better go back.”
It wasn＇t long before they realized that they were completely lost.They tried every corridor，but it felt as though they were going around in circles.Becky started to panic.
“Tom，Tom，we＇re lost！＂she cried.
“We're never going to get out of this awful place！We should have stayed with the
others！＂
She sank to the ground and burst into a frenzy of crying.Tom sat down by her and put his arms around her. She buried her face in his chest.
After a while they moved on again，but it was hopeless. They walked aimless for hours，and at last Becky＇s frail limbs refused to carry her any farther.They sat down and rested，talking of home，and the friends there，and the comfortable beds and.above all，the light！
“Tom，I am so hungry！＂cried Becky.
Tom took something out of his pocket.
“Do you remember this？＂he said.
“It ‘s our wedding cake.”
“Yes.I wish it were bigger.It’s all we ve
got.”
Tom divided the cake，and they ate in silence.There was plenty of fresh water around for them to drink.“Becky，we have to stay here，where there＇s water to drink.And that little piece is our last candle！They＇ll soon realize we＇re missing，and they＇ll come for us.”
They talked for a while longer，and fell asleep in each other＇s arms.
