Tybalt, being of a fiery a passionate temper, could not stand that a Montague had come to the dinner under the cover of a mask. He would have struck Romeo dead, but his uncle, the old Lord Capulet, stopped him. This was both out of respect to his guests and because Romeo was well known in Verona as a virtuous youth.
When the dancing was over, Romeo gently took the beautiful lady by the hand."This hand is a shrine. ”said Romeo. "Iam the blushing pilgrim who would like to kiss it for atonement.”
“Pilgrims may touch the hands of saints, but not kiss them." answered the lady."But don't saints and pilgrims have lips?"asked Romeo.
“Yes they do." said the lady. "But those lips must be used in prayer.”
“Oh, then, my dear saint, hear my prayer and grant it. Or I'll despair. ”
At that moment, the lady was called away to her mother. Romeo, inquiring who her mother was, discovered who the lady was. She was Juliet, daughter and heiress to the Lord Capulet, the great enemy of the Montagues. This troubled him, but it could not stop him from loving her. Juliet, when she found that the man that she had been talking with was Romeo and a Montague, was also troubled because she had also fallen in love with him.
