敕勒川，
阴山下。
天似穹庐，
笼盖四野。
天苍苍，
野茫茫，
风吹草低见牛羊。

Where the Gloom Mountains stand.
The sky is like a dome
Covering all the land.
The sky is a blue cast;
The grass extends vast.
Cattle and sheep appear out of grass at a blast.
