My name is Michelle Dockery, and I'm the voice of Lilias Trotter in Many Beautiful Things. I hadn't heard of Lilias with her, you know, as I was watching the film, I very quickly I thought, I should know who this woman is and other people should know.

I was so moved by the story and her zest and fervor for life, it’s just... it takes your breath away. I think lots of people should see this movie, maybe the whole world should see this movie. So that when you ask someone “Have you heard of Lilias Totters?” They will say “Yes”.

The film is about a woman who makes a very bold decision in her life. She goes against convention and what is expected of her not just as an artist but as a woman.

Ruskin was one of the most notable and famous writers an artists of his time, and he paled her as potentially being one of the most celebrated painters of her time. She defied all of that and embarked on this huge journey and a dangerous one.

From start to finish, I was so moved by it, you know, the fact that she threw aside her aristocratic life really her upbringing, and she essentially lived in the slums of Algeria.

The film is about hope, it's about courage, but the one thing it really sings out to me is that it's about humility, and the humility of a human being and how they can put their own life after other people's.

I was so moved by the story and it's a film that you take it with you, you think about. It’s like a discovery, learning about this woman.
