[Imports of Services to Reach $2.5T in Next 5 Years]

The Ministry of Commerce released a report today at the China International Import Expo that the country's service imports are expected to reach 2.5 trillion US dollars in the next five years, accounting for more than 10 percent of the world's total. 

The report said despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, China's digital services imports increased 5.6 percent year-on-year in the first eight months of this year. The ministry added that restrictions will be relaxed on foreign shareholding in telecommunications, commercial services and transportation. The report said imports in the sector provided more than 18 million jobs for its trading partners in 2019. Since joining the World Trade Organization in 2001, China has imported services worth 4.7 trillion US dollars for an average annual growth rate of 15 percent, outpacing the global average of 7 percent.

商务部今天在上海发布的2020年中国服务进口报告显示，未来五年，中国服务进口增速 将高于全球平均水平，服务进口规模有望 累计达2.5万亿美元。

报告显示，2013年以来，中国服务进口连续7年稳居全球第二。2012年到2019年，中国服务进口年均增长8.6%，高出同期全球增速4.8个百分点，服务进口的质量也越来越高。

今年以来，人员流动因疫情受阻，前三季度中国服务进出口4848.5亿美元，同比降幅达17.4%。

对此，商务部表示，中国服务进口的长期目标没有变，中国服贸整体增速将逐步企稳回升。

目前，中国已与14个国家签署了服务贸易合作备忘录。商务部表示，中国将加强与相关伙伴国 在数字服务、高新技术、教育服务、服务外包 等领域的互利合作，共同做大服务贸易"蛋糕"。
