虽然开始学英语很早，但第一次让我在现实生活当中实际运用英语的场景发生在我高中毕业那年的暑假。当时，作为我考入理想大学的奖励，我的父亲决定带我一起去法国旅游。时值八月，巴黎却依然凉爽，本地居民大多都去了海滨小镇度假，我们在街道上散步时非常惬意。参观完巴黎圣母院，我们来到了左岸一个公园小憩。此时一对貌似游客的老夫妇上前，询问我是否能向他们指点去圣母院的方向。这是第一次我将外语能力运用到现实情境中解决问题的一个宝贵机会，因此虽然稍微有些紧张，我还是愉快地拿出了手机谷歌地图并打开了导航，并根据导航的路线告诉他们具体的行走路线。老夫妇听了连连道谢，并询问我们在巴黎的旅途如何，我也愉快地与他们进行交流。这次经历让我不仅让我紧张，因为我必须尝试自己用英语解决问题，更让我感到自豪，因为结果很令人高兴，我的口语也得到了锻炼。

Given the fact that I was very young（as在句首作“尽管”之意，倒装） when I started to learn English, I didn’t have the chance to apply it into practical use until the summer I graduated from senior high school. As a reward for being admitted into a prominent（杰出的） university, my father decided to take me to France. It was in August and it was surprisingly very cool in Paris, and most of the local residents went to coastal towns for vacation.

While there, my father and I took a strollfree of cares（无忧无虑地） almost every day. After a visit to the Notre Dame, we went to a park at the “left bank” for a rest when an old couple who seemed like tourists came up to us and asked me if I could point out the direction to Notre Dame. This was a precious opportunity for me to speak English inan ordinary everyday life scenario（日常生活场景）.Therefore,a bit nervous as I was（as句首倒装），I took out my phone and turned to Google Maps for navigation assistance, then showed them the way to their destination in English. The old couple was very grateful and asked us how our trip was in Paris. We had a very nice and pleasant conversation. This experience not only made me nervous because I had to try to solve a real life problem in English, but also made me proud because the outcome was desirable and I also improved my spoken English skills.
