Lauv’s real name is Ari Staprans Leff. I Like Me Better was the first charting song under his stage name Lauv. 

Lauv was only 18 when he wrote the song. He said the song was inspired by a relationship he had in college, two months after he moved from San Francisco to the music technology program at New York University.
