The rate and regularity of the heart beat is determined by electrical impulses from nerves that stimulate the�myocardium�of the chambers of the heart.These electrical impulses are controlled by the�sinoatrial (SA) node,�atrioventricular (AV) node, and�bundle of His.

The�sinoatrial node, which is often referred to as the�SA node, is located in the posterior wall of the�right atrium�near the entrance of the�superior vena cava.

The impulses from the�SA node�travel to the�atrioventricular

node.which is also known as the�AV node.�It�is located on the floor of the right atrium near the interatrial septum.

The�bundle of His�is a group of fibers located within the�interventricular septum.These fibers carry electrical impulses travel onward to the right and left�ventricles�and the�Purkinje fibers.

Purkinje fibers�are specialized conductive fibers located within the walls of the�ventricles.
