Hello, this is MT English. I'm Joe. Here is a new podcast today. It's about black history month. It's a month that celebrated in a country such as USA, all of Europe and Africa and celebrating black history, and through music, through poetry, through reading, studying programs at schools and lots of activities. We focus for women from black history.

In China. I found that perceptions of black people black history would generally um... let’s say very narrow and often the basic misunderstandings or ideas , the Africa is poor. Um... black people are poor, black people all like hip-pop, hip-pop is black people, and maybe black people are good at sports, they are good at basketball, they are good at running, so we discussing some of these stereotypes in later podcasts.

So why should we have this month to celebrate blackhistory. Um, one reason is that black history is often being repressed(被压抑的) in the past, that means it’s being erased (被抹去、被清除)from history, it’s being deleted, and people don't want to remember for certain reasons and so African history also is an oral history. So traditionally was not written down like Chinese history or European history. So it's very difficult to know about the ancient African history, and the relative in modern history. Black history has often being written by white people, in European in America and therefore,it's their version of events. And of course, we know the history are always written by the conqueror by the winner, let’s say. So often the histories are very bias(偏见), one sided. So in black history month, we can go and really look deep into(深入探究) black history and see what the real history is.

So often we find the black histories are very bias to Europeans or Americans and other white countries.Um, so it's really important to look back at(回顾、回头看) the history and try understand who are black people, where do they come from and what is the history.

So in these podcasts,I will be using some poetry, some musics sometimes, um,to try get you interested in history. Of course, it's not possible in a short podcast to talk about everything in black history but it’s just to give you some flavor of what is about. So today’s question is: have you ever thought about black history? Do you know anything about black history? And what do you know? I am Joe. See you next time, bye bye!
