It’s an exciting day at Royal Prep—the fairies are choosing which student will host the annual (年度的) school tea party.

今天，皇家预备会迎来了一个令人激动的日子——仙子们正要选出要让哪个学生来举办学校年度茶会。

Sofia’s (苏菲亚) new stepsister, Amber (安柏), explains that Royal Prep tea parties (皇家茶会) are really big events. “They have merry-go-rounds (旋转木马), ponies, and even hot-air balloons (热气球)!”

苏菲亚的新姐姐——继父的女儿安柏，给她解释说皇家茶会可是个盛大的活动。“茶会上有过旋转木马，小马，还有热气球呢！”

Sofia has never been to a royal tea party. She just recently (最近) became a princess when her mother married King Roland (罗伦国王).

苏菲亚从来没参加过皇家茶会。在她妈妈嫁给罗伦国王之后，她才刚刚成为小公主。

In class, Sofia’s teacher, Flora (弗洛拉), holds out a teapot. “Only students who haven’t had a chance to host a party should submit (提交) their names,” says the fairy.

课堂上，苏菲亚的老师弗洛拉拿出了一个茶壶。“只有没有举办过茶会的人才能报名哦，”仙子说道。

Sofia excitedly drops a slip of paper (一张小纸条) with her name on it into the teapot.

苏菲亚兴奋地把写着自己名字的纸条投进了茶壶里。

Flora uses her wand to stir (搅动) the pot. Soon one paper magically floats (飘) out.

弗洛拉用自己的魔杖搅动茶壶。很快，就有一张纸条神奇地飘了起来。

“The host of the next Royal Prep tea party will be . . . Princess Sofia!” she announces.

“下次皇家茶会的主办者是……苏菲亚公主！”她宣布道。

Sofia is thrilled.

苏菲亚激动不已。

“You can throw any kind of party you like,” Flora tells her. “This is your chance to show us who you are.”

“你可以按你喜欢的方式办茶会，”弗洛拉告诉她，“这是你展示自我的机会。”

On the ride home from school, Sofia talks about the tea party with Amber and her stepbrother (继兄弟), James (詹姆士). “There have already been so many big, fancy tea parties,” she says. “I’d like to throw a simple tea party like I used to in the village. My friends and I would spread blankets on the ground and borrow (借用) teacups from our mothers.”

在从学校回家的路上，苏菲亚和安柏，还有继父的儿子詹姆士，一起讨论着茶会。“已经有那么多盛大、奢华的茶会了，”她说，“我想办一个简单的茶会，就像以前我在村子里办的一样。那时候我和我的朋友们会把毯子铺在地上，从妈妈们那里借来茶杯。”

James thinks that sounds cool. Amber doesn’t. “No one wants to use borrowed teacups!” she exclaims. “When it comes to royal parties, the bigger the better!”

詹姆士觉得这个主意很棒，但安柏不觉得。“没有人会想用借来的茶杯的！”她惊呼道。“只要是皇家茶会，都是越盛大越好！”

Sofia starts to think that maybe Amber is right. She spots the swan fountain (天鹅喷泉) and tells Baileywick (巴利维克), the castle caretaker (管家), that she would like to have a swan-themed tea party. “We’ll have swan-shaped cookies and cakes.”

苏菲亚开始觉得，也许安柏是对的。她看到了天鹅喷泉，告诉城堡管家巴利维克，她想办一个天鹅主题的茶会。“我们要有天鹅形状的茶点和蛋糕。”

“That sounds lovely,” says Baileywick.

“听起来棒极了，”巴利维克说道。

Amber likes the swan theme but encourages (鼓励) Sofia to think even bigger.

安柏喜欢天鹅主题，但她鼓励苏菲亚，让她想得更丰富一点。

“Hmm. Maybe Cedric (赛克), the Royal Sorcerer (皇室魔法师), can make the tables and chairs float in the air like swans float on water,” suggests Sofia, “And the swans can put on a show.”

“嗯，也许皇室魔法师赛克能让桌子和椅子飘在空中，就像天鹅浮在水上一样，”苏菲亚建议道，“还可以让天鹅表演节目。”

“That’s more like it!” says Amber.

Later that day, Sofia is visited by her friends from the village, Jade (婕德) and Ruby (鲁比). Even though Sofia is busy planning the Royal Prep tea party, she is happy to take a break (休息一下) to spend time with (和某人一起度过) them.

晚些时候，苏菲亚以前在乡村的朋友婕德和鲁比，来拜访她了。尽管苏菲亚忙着策划皇家茶会，她还是很愿意休息一下，花点时间和朋友们在一起。

“Let’s have a little snack,” Sofia suggests. “I know the perfect spot.”

Sofia leads Jade and Ruby along a row of hedges (树篱). Then she pushes aside some ivy (常青藤), uncovering (露出) a wooden door. The door opens and the girls step into Sofia’s secret garden.

苏菲亚领着婕德和鲁比走过一排树篱，然后她推开了常青藤，露出了一扇木门。门开了，女孩子们一起进入了苏菲的秘密花园。

“It’s beautiful!” says Ruby.

“太美了！”鲁比说道。

“Look at all the butterflies!” cries Jade.

“看，这么多蝴蝶！”婕德喊道。

The girls spread out a blanket (毯子) and share a plate of cookies. “This reminds (使想起) me of the tea parties we had in the village,” Ruby says. “Are you throwing a party like this for your princess friends?”

女孩子们铺开一张毯子，坐在毯子上一起分享一盘茶点。“这让我想起了，我们在村庄时的茶会，”鲁比说道，“你要为你的公主朋友们办这样的茶会吗？”

Sofia sighs. “I want to, but they expect a big, fancy tea party.”

苏菲亚叹了口气：“我想这么办，但是她们喜欢盛大华丽的茶会啊。”

“That’s too bad, because I’m having a great time (玩得开心) just doing this,” says Ruby.

“好遗憾啊，因为我就喜欢咱们这样的茶会，”鲁比说道。

“Me too,” agrees Sofia.

“我也是，”苏菲亚赞同道。

After a few more cookies, Sofia sadly says good-bye and gets back to her party planning.

她们又吃了几块茶点，苏菲亚难过地和朋友们道别了，她又回去策划她的茶会了。
