As the racers headed into the mountains, they were not allowed to climb above a thousand feet (英尺). Dusty flew low and easily weaved through gorges (峡谷) and valleys. When the leg was over, he had moved all the way from last place to eighth!

飞到山脉中时，比赛选手被禁止飞到高于一千英尺的高空，达斯蒂保持低飞，轻松穿越了峡谷和山谷。赛程结束时，他从最后一名一跃升至第八名！

Ripslinger fumed (愤怒) as the press surrounded the racing newcomer. “Why are they wasting their time with him?” Rip wondered. “He’s a tractor (拖拉机) with wings!”

看到媒体都围着这个新选手转，瑞普斯林怒火中烧。“为什么在这家伙身上浪费时间？”瑞普斯林不解，“他不过就是个带翅膀的拖拉机！”

Meanwhile, reporters wanted to know where Dusty had learned to race.

与此同时，记者们想了解达斯蒂在哪儿学的比赛技巧。

“From my coach, Skipper,” Dusty replied. “He’s the reason I’m even here. He’s an amazing instructor (指导者). And I’m sure if he could, he’d be with us right now.”

“是我的教练，威风队长，”达斯蒂回答道，“如果不是他，我根本不会来到这里。他是一位了不起的老师。我确信，如果可以，他肯定会即刻出现在这里。”

Listening to Dusty back home, Skipper was inspired to do something he had not done in a very long time.

在家乡，受到达斯蒂的鼓舞，威风队长想做一件好久都没有做过的事情。

Skipper made sure no one was around. Then he had Sparky push him out onto the runway (跑道). The old fighter took a deep breath and started his engine.

威风队长确定四周没其他飞机。然后，他让斯帕奇推着他来到了跑道上。这架老战士深呼一口气，发动了引擎。

Within seconds, the determination (决心) on Skipper’s face changed to defeat (失败). He shut down (关闭) his engine and let Sparky take him back to the hangar (飞机棚).

仅仅过了几秒，威风队长脸上的坚决就变成了失败。他关掉引擎，让斯帕奇把他推回了飞机棚。

Before the next leg of the rally, Dusty radioed home for advice (建议). He was going to be flying over the Himalayas (喜马拉雅山), the tallest mountains in the world! “What if a guy wanted to fly through the mountains instead of over them?” he asked.

在拉力赛的下一程开始前，达斯蒂用无线电连接家里，听取建议。他该飞越喜马拉雅山了，这是全世界最高的山脉！“如果我想从山里面穿过去，而不是从上空飞过去呢？”他问道。

“You can fly a whole lot higher than you think,” Skipper encouraged him.

“你可以比自己认为的飞得高得多，”威风队长鼓励他。

But Dusty was not ready to overcome (克服) his fear. Luckily, a beautiful Indian racer named Ishani (伊莎妮) told him he could fly low by following the railroad tracks (铁路轨道) that ran through the mountains.

但是达斯蒂还没准备好克服自己的恐惧。幸运的是，一架漂亮的印度飞机选手伊莎妮告诉他，他可以飞得低一些，跟着贯穿山脉的铁轨穿过去。

The next day, the racers took off for Nepal (尼泊尔). Dusty followed the railroad tracks through the Himalayas, but he quickly discovered that they led into a tunnel (隧道).

第二天，比赛选手飞往尼泊尔。达斯蒂跟着铁轨穿越喜马拉雅山，但是，他很快就发现铁轨进入了一个隧道。

Too afraid to fly above the mountains, Dusty flew inside the tunnel—and soon heard a train approaching.

达斯蒂不敢飞到山脉上空，只好飞进了隧道——但是不久，他就听到一辆火车正在逼近。

Dusty shot forward with every bit of (每一点，全部的) power he had.

达斯蒂拼尽全力加速冲刺。

Dusty made it out of the tunnel only seconds before the train entered. He was grateful to find himself flying above the peaceful countryside (农村) of Nepal.

达斯蒂刚飞出隧道，火车就进来了。达斯蒂庆幸自己终于来到了尼泊尔平静的乡村上空。

Soon he landed at an airfield (飞机场) by a monastery (寺庙).

很快，他就降落在一座寺庙附近的一个飞机场上。

“Welcome,” said an official. “You’re in first place!”

“欢迎你，”一位工作人员说，“你是第一名！”

First place! Dusty couldn’t believe it.

第一名！达斯蒂简直不敢相信。

When Ishani arrived, Dusty noticed that she had a new propeller (推进器) that was just like Ripslinger’s. Dusty was disappointed (失望的) when he realized his friend had betrayed him!

当伊莎妮抵达时，达斯蒂注意到她有一个跟瑞普斯林一模一样的新推进器。意识到朋友背叛了自己，达斯蒂真是失望透顶！

Meanwhile, Dusty’s performance (表现) had made him a superstar. He had become the hero of working vehicles (交通工具) everywhere—making Ripslinger furious! The fans were rooting for Dusty as he flew the next leg of the race, from Nepal to Shanghai, China.

与此同时，达斯蒂凭借出色的表现成了超级明星。他成了世界各地工作交通工具的偶像——这让瑞普斯林大发雷霆！在尼泊尔到中国上海的下一赛程中，粉丝们都支持达斯蒂了。

After arriving in Shanghai, Dusty called Skipper and his friends back home. Next, he would be flying across the Pacific Ocean (太平洋) to Mexico.

抵达上海后，达斯蒂呼叫了家乡的威风队长和朋友们。下一程比赛中，他要飞越太平洋，飞往墨西哥了。

Skipper warned Dusty that it was monsoon (季风) season. “Be careful,” he said. “And one more thing. I’m proud of you.”

威风队长警告达斯蒂，现在正是季风季节。“一定要小心，”他说道，“还有就是，我为你骄傲。”

That made Dusty feel great!

达斯蒂听了，感觉好极了！
