3D offer letter goes viral
清华3D录取通知书走红

A 3D-printed version of a 2nd gate at Tsinghua University is now appearing on the school's 2018 admission letter. This art work, made by faculty and students at Tsinghua, contains more than 30 components and over a hundred interlocking structures created using laser cutting technology. 
如今，清华大学3D打印版的"二校门"出现在了该校2018年的录取通知书上。这件工艺品由清华大学师生共同打造，包含了30多个部件和上百个通过激光雕刻技术制作的拼插结构。

As the candidate opens the package, the sculpture pops out from the page. "To include a 3D sculpture of the Old Gate in the acceptance package," said the Tsinghua Admission Office, "is to convey its elegance and solemnity throughout history, and also to carry other meanings in the new era: inspiration and wisdom, youth and the future."
报考者打开录取通知书，3D二校门就会跃然纸上。清华招办表示，将3D二校门放在录取通知书上既传递着历史的端庄与厚重，也承载着新时代中的另一番意味：灵感与智慧、青春与未来。

The university posted the acceptance letter on their official Weibo account, captioned "When you cross the Old Gate in August, a new world will emerge in front of you, and a brand-new Tsinghua awaits your discovery and creation." The post quickly went viral, one netizen commenting "I am losing my mind. I want it."
清华将该录取通知书贴在了其官微上，并写道："当你在盛夏八月穿过这座'二校门'，一个全新的世界将在你面前徐徐铺开，一个崭新的清华将等待你探索与创造。"该贴迅速走红网络，一位网友评论称："我飘了，我想要。

Cat dies before WCup ends

网红故宫猫'白点儿'去世 

Baidianr (which literally means "white spot" in Chinese), a stray cat living at Beijing's Palace Museum, died on Monday after becoming an online sensation for making six consecutive predictions for this year's World Cup. 
因成功预测本届世界杯6场球赛结果而成为网红的故宫流浪猫"白点儿"于2日去世。

Before each game, staff members at the museum would put two bowls of cat food in front of Baidianr, each with the national flag of the competing countries, to see which bowl Baidianr would go for. The chosen bowl was the cat's predicted winner. 
每场比赛前，故宫工作人员会将两碗猫粮端到白点儿面前，碗口分别插上两个参赛国的国旗，看白点儿会选择哪个碗进食。白点儿选择哪碗猫粮即代表它预测哪一方即将取得胜利。

When Baidianr made its sixth consecutive successful guess on June 26 - picking Argentina over Nigeria - more than 8,000 netizens left comments saying they had prepared the best quality cat food and snacks as a reward. 
6月26日，白点儿在阿根廷和尼日利亚两队中选择了前者，连续第6场预测成功，超过8000名网友留言称已经为白点儿准备了最好的猫粮和零食作为奖励。

The next day, however, the cat fell seriously ill and was sent to hospital. Baidianr died on Monday. A second cat, named Changtuir (long legs), is filling in. It has correctly chosen the winning bowl two consecutive times.
然而第二天，白点儿就突发重病，被送往医院。7月2日，白点儿去世。另一只猫"长腿儿"将替代白点儿继续预测比赛胜负。目前长腿儿已经成功预测两场。

Women at risk for 'iPad neck'

研究:女性更易患'平板脖'

New US research has found that neck pain caused by using iPads and tablets could be affecting women more than men, and that poor posture other than time spent using a device is the biggest factor contributing to pain. 

美国一项新的研究发现，使用iPad或其它平板电脑导致的脖子疼痛对女性的影响比男性大，使用平板的时间并不是导致疼痛的最大因素，糟糕的姿势才是罪魁祸首。

The results also showed that iPad neck is more common among young adults than older adults, and women were two times more likely to experience musculoskeletal symptoms than men, with 70% of female participants experiencing symptoms compared to just under 30% of men. 

研究还发现，相较于老年人，"平板脖"在年轻人中更常见；另外，女性遭遇肌肉骨骼症状的几率是男性的两倍，70%的女性受访者有此症状，而只有不到30%的男性有这些症状。

The team suggested that as women tend to have lower muscle strength and smaller stature, they may adopt more extreme neck and shoulder postures while typing, leading to greater discomfort. 

研究团队称，因为女性的肌肉强度较低，体型较小，所以她们打字的时候脖子和肩膀的姿势更不好，不适感就更强。

Champs-Elysées turns cinema
巴黎香街变身电影院

On Sunday night, 1,700 people flocked to the Champs-Elysées to see French fantasy comedy Les Visiteurs on a giant screen positioned 100 meters in front of the Arc de Triomphe. 
7月1日晚，1700人聚集到香榭丽舍大街，在凯旋门前100米处架设的巨型屏幕上观看法国奇幻喜剧《时空急转弯》。

The event was an initiative by the Champs-Elysées Committee as well as partners including the City of Paris and France's National Cinema Center. And it was no small feat, requiring a crane to lift the six-ton 180 square meters screen, 30 meters into the air to install it. 
香街委员会、巴黎市政府和法国国家电影中心共同举办了这次活动。这并不是一次小型活动，需要动用起重机将重达6吨、面积为180平米的屏幕吊离地面30米进行安装。

The lucky attendees, restricted to 1,700 due to security worries, were chosen at random from a total of 16,000 participants. The screening is part of an effort to promote the Champs-Elysées in an intelligent way.
出于安全方面的考虑，幸运观众的人数被限定在1700，他们是从总共1.6万名的参与者中随机抽选出来的。此次放映活动是以巧妙方式宣传香街的部分举措。
