Sadly, when Apollo was in search of love, he almost always came up empty-handed.
Cassandra was the daughter of King Priam of Troy and Hecuba. The myths state that she was the most beautiful of all the king's children. Many men admired her beauty and wished to court her, including Apollo.
Apollo agreed to bargain with her. He promised to teach her the art of prophecy if she would in turn promise to yield to his advances. The deal was made.
However, when it came time for Cassandra to pay up, she refused.
Thereafter, several times (during the Trojan War especially) she tried and tried to convince others of the truth of her prophecies, but to no avail.
