In my opinion, scientists should choose research areas based on their own interests. because intrests are the best teacher and provide people with the most potent impetus. only when scientists are truely interested in certain areas can they get sufficient inspiration. and devote themselves fully to making new finding and breakthroughs. also, only the researchers themselves know what is worth pursuing of the most vanguard area and their fields. while the public concern is quite changeable, and a lot of times backward and manipulated by the media.
