What a night!

The moon is full.

Kitten is hungry

and inquisitive

and brave

and fast

and persistent

and unlucky…

then lucky!

What a night!

多么棒的夜晚啊！

月亮圆了。

小猫咪饿了，

她好奇，

她勇敢，

她迅速，

她坚持不懈，

她不太走运

……

可后来她又很幸运！

多么棒的夜晚啊！

It was Kitten’s first full moon.

When she saw it, she thought,

There’s a little bowl of milk in the sky.

And she wanted it.

这是小猫咪第一次看见满月。

看着满月，她想，

天上有一小盆牛奶啊。

她真想喝啊。

So she closed her eyes

and stretch her neck

and opened her mouth and licked.

于是，她闭上眼睛，

伸长脖子，

张开嘴巴，伸出舌头舔了舔。

But Kitten’s only ended up

with a bug on her tongue.

Poor Kitten!

可是小猫咪舔到的

只是一只苍蝇。

可怜的小猫咪！

Still, there was the little bowl of milk, just waiting.

而那一小盆牛奶，还在那里静静地等着。

So she pulled herself together

and wiggled her bottom

and sprang from the top step of the porch.

于是，她弓起身子

扭了扭屁股，

从门廊最上面的台阶纵身跃起。

But Kitten only tumbled—

bumping her nose and banging her ear

and pinching her tail.

Poor Kitten!

可是，小猫咪摔倒了—

撞扁了她的鼻子，摔疼了她的耳朵，

夹疼了她的尾巴。

可怜的小猫咪！

Still, there was the little bowl of milk, just waiting.

而那一小盆牛奶，还在那里静静地等着。

So she chased it—

down the sidewalk,

through the garden,

past the field,

and by the pond.

But Kitten never seemed to get closer.

Poor Kitten!

于是，她开始追它—

她下了人行道，

穿过花园，

经过田野，

来到池塘边。

可是，小猫咪离它好像还是那么远。

可怜的小猫咪！

Still, there was the little bowl of milk, just waiting.

而那一小盆牛奶，还在那里静静地等着。
   

So she ran

to the tallest tree

she could find,

and she climbed

and climbed

and climbed

to the very top.

于是，她跑向

她能找到的

最高的树，

她爬啊

爬啊

爬到

最高处。
    

But Kitten

still couldn’t reach

the bowl of milk,

and now she was

scared.

Poor Kitten!

What could she do?

可是小猫咪

还是够不到

那盆牛奶，

她好害怕。

可怜的小猫咪！

她该怎么办啊？

Then, in the pond, Kitten saw

another bowl of milk.

and it was bigger.

What a night!

就在那时，小猫咪看见

池塘里还有一盆更大的牛奶。

多么棒的夜晚啊！

So she raced down the tree

and raced through the grass

于是，她跑下树，

跑过草丛，

and raced to the edge of the pond.

She leaped with all her might—

跑到池塘边，

用尽全力跳了下去——

Poor Kitten!

She was wet and sad and tired

and hungry.

可怜的小猫咪！

她全身湿透了，

她又累又饿

又伤心。

So she went back home —

最后，她失望地回家了—

And there was

a great bowl of milk

on the porch

门廊上有一大盆牛奶

just waiting for her.

正在等着她呢。

Lucky Kitten!

多么幸运的小猫咪啊！
