'小镇青年'将成消费主力

So-called "small-town youngsters" around the country are increasingly staying in their hometowns. 

全国各地所谓的"小镇青年"越来越愿意生活在家乡。

They are splurging on cars, fashion and entertainment, reshaping China's consumption landscape as their peers in Shanghai and Beijing contend with high living costs. 

他们为汽车、时尚和娱乐一掷千金，而他们在北京和上海的同龄人则在与高昂的生活成本作斗争，这重塑了中国的消费版图。

In a report by UnionPay and JD.COM, consumption in China's third- and fourth-tier cities soared 58% last year. 

根据银联和京东的一份报告，中国三四线城市的消费去年飙升了58%。

Taken together, the cities have a total population of nearly 700 million. 

相加起来，这些城市的人口总数近7亿。

Morgan Stanley expects China's private consumption market will more than double to $11.8 trillion in 2030, from $4.7 trillion currently, with 2/3 of the increase coming from third- and fourth-tier cities.

摩根士丹利预计，到2030年中国的个人消费市场将较现在的4.7万亿美元不止翻一倍，达到11.8万亿美元，其中2/3的增长将来自于三四线城市。

Uranus has rotten egg smell

Scientists have determined that the atmosphere above the planet Uranus is full of a gas that makes the distant planet smell like rotten eggs. 

科学家们已经确定，天王星上方的大气层中充满着一种气体，使这个遥远星球闻起来气味类似臭鸡蛋。

According to NASA, a global research team dissected infrared light from Uranus and found hydrogen sulfide in the planet's cloud tops. 

根据美国航空航天局(NASA)发布的消息，一个全球性研究小组仔细分析了天王星发出的红外光线，并在其云层带中发现了硫化氢。

Hydrogen sulfide is a "colorless, flammable, extremely hazardous gas with a 'rotten egg' smell," according to the Occupational Health & Safety Administration.

据职业健康与安全管理局介绍，硫化氢是一种"无色、易燃、有'臭鸡蛋'味的极具毒性的气体"。

City dampens jaywalking

街头神器喷水防闯红灯

The pavement in Daye, Hubei has installed a new system that will spray water to stop people from jaywalking. 

湖北大冶的人行道上安装了一套新系统，用喷水的方法阻止行人乱穿马路。

The yellow bollards, fitted with facial recognition technology, were set up at two sides of the crossings to spray water whenever they detected any person running the red light. 

这些配有面部识别技术的黄色护桩被设置在人行横道的两侧，每当检测到有人闯红灯时便会喷水。

Some pedestrians got scared when the water sprayed at their feet. 

有行人被喷到脚上的水吓了一跳。

But some seem to be curious to test the effectiveness of the system.

Scandal engulfs lit Nobel

The Nobel Prize for Literature could be cancelled this year after the body that awards it was hit by a sex scandal. 

由于诺贝尔文学奖颁奖机构瑞典文学院受性丑闻的影响，今年该奖可能会被取消。

The crisis began when the Swedish Academy brought in lawyers to investigate sexual misconduct claims from 18 women against Jean-Claude Arnault. 

此次危机始自瑞典文学院聘请律师，就18名女性指控让•克劳德•阿尔诺的不当性行为进行调查。

Arnault, a major cultural figure in Sweden, is the husband of Katarina Frostenson, a poet and a member of the academy. 

据悉，阿尔诺是瑞典文学界的重要人物，也是瑞典文学院院士——诗人卡塔琳娜•佛洛斯登松的丈夫。

Six members of the academy resigned over a vote not to remove Frostenson.

由于瑞典学院投票否决开除佛洛斯登松，该学院6名院士辞职。

"Given the situation the academy currently finds itself in, and given the best interests of the prize, it might be best to postpone it for a year," said Peter Englund, one of the academy members who stepped down.

请辞的院士之一皮特•英格朗表示，考虑到学院目前的处境以及奖项的最佳利益，可能最好将该奖延后一年。

But another member, Goran Malmqvist, rejected the notion, saying it would go ahead as planned this year.

"We're thinking about it. We'll let you know soon," said Anders Olsson, the academy's interim permanent secretary.
