Is Bat a Bird?-1
(adapted from an Indian tale )
Long ago, the birds and the land animals had a big war. The animals were winning, for they had legs and were very strong.
That's when Bat went into a cave and hid. He wanted to see which side was going to win. After many hours, the land animals finally won the fight.
When he was sure which side had won, Bat flew out of his cave and followed the animals.
Bear looked at him and said,“Here is a bird. Let's kill it!"
But Bat cried, “I am not a bird, even though I can fly like a bird. Look in my mouth. I have teeth. Birds do not. So, as you can see, I am one of you."
The animals talked it over and finally agreed. They allowed Bat to join them.
