The Albert Einstein College of Medicine will offer students free tuition following a $1bn donation from the widow of a major Wall Street investor. The gift came from Dr Ruth Gottesman, a former professor at the school.

Tuition at the school is nearly $59,000 each year, leaving students with substantial debt. From August, all students will receive free tuition in perpetuity.
