Welcome toour English time – One word, one World. Today’s key word is: Sihanoukville SpecialEconomic Zone. An exhibition on the achievements of the Sihanoukville SpecialEconomic Zone (SSEC) in Cambodia was held on May 22 to celebratethe 10thanniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.

In his speech at theopening ceremony of the exhibition, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen pointedout that since the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward ten years ago, theSSEC has developed vigorously. Now 175 enterprises have settled there,providing 30,000 jobs for Cambodia. This year marks the 65th anniversary ofCambodia-China diplomatic ties and the Year of Cambodia-China friendship.Cambodia-china traditional friendship is unbreakable. Over the years, China hassupported Cambodia’s development in various fields and Cambodia-Chinacooperation has brought tangible benefits to the Cambodian people.

Wang Wentian, ChineseAmbassador to Cambodia, said the SSEC is a model project of thepractical cooperation between China and Cambodiaunder the Belt and Road Initiative. The SSEC has become the “locomotive” ofeconomic development in Sihanoukville Province and the “golden rice bowl” forlocal people to get rich through hard work. Over the past decade, China andCambodia have pursued high-quality Belt and Road cooperation under theprinciple of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.Facts have proved that China-Cambodia cooperation has not only brought tangiblebenefits to the two peoples, but also made positive contributions to regionalpeace and prosperity.
