We live in a world that today seems to be dominated by division with fake news and anti-expert propaganda everywhere. It can feel hard to know how to feel represented, or how to be among people with similar views and ethics as your own.

I'm Stephen Fry and I'm proud to call myself a humanist and a patron of humanists UK. Humanist UK represents millions of non-religious people all over the country who believe in a tolerant and empathetic society where rational thinking and kindness prevail.

Humanists are people like me who try to live the best and fullest lives we can now, because we believe that this life is the only one we've got. And I think that focusing on the idea of an afterlife means that we risk missing out on all the wonders that this world has to offer.

Humanist UK also supports people as they try to leave controlling or abusive religions, often they're only lifelines, they're cast out by family and friends. We're not there to evangelize or to convert or to persuade people against their religion merely to offer them help if they need it.
